22.01.2022 RSL Toodyay Sub-Branch wishes to thank everyone who attended our Remembrance Day service. It was lovely to see so many join us for this solemn occasion. Our service was well patronized with over 100 attending. Our thanks go to those who laid wreaths. Our gratitude goes out to those who helped with set up and clean up, as your cooperation is invaluable to us. Thank you everyone. After our service we farewelled two of our members at the Victoria Hotel. All photos of the farewell plus additional members photos from today are on our member Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/groups/1729563013923863
22.01.2022 Last years Sandakan Scholarship recipients,Amy Duckworth and Matilda (Tilly) Lyne received their Sandakan Shirts, this evening at Toodyay Memorial Hall. Our RSL Toodyay Sub-Branch have been involved in this project since 2008 and in that time we have sent 15 students to Borneo on ANZAC Day to commemorate the passing of the four sons of Toodyay who lost their lives on the infamous Sandakan Death March. On the Burma Railway 1 in 3 perished on the Sandakan only 6 out of 2500 came home. This presentation would normally be held earlier in the year with the successful recipients heading off in April. However, due to the pandemic the girls are now scheduled to undertake the journey next year 2021.
22.01.2022 RSL Toodyay would like to ask the public for donations of poppy material. We are undertaking some small projects to make ourselves more visible, enabling us to locate our Veterans who may not know we have a Sub-Branch in Toodyay. We are here to help all our Veterans, whether or not they are members of our Sub-Branch. We are also asking for donations of crochet poppies for our Poppy Day Appeal stalls. I appreciate any help you can give us and I thank you in advance.
21.01.2022 We’re back. RSL Toodyay Sub-Branch will be holding a stall at this month’s Toodyay Farmers Market, 18th October. We will be available for queries on services to ex-Service personnel and their families, eligibility and application re memberships, Niche Wall plaques, along with any other RSL Sub-Branch queries from the general public. All queries are welcome. At the moment we are undertaking another run of Niche Wall plaques (relatives who served but didn’t die in war) as a few more expressions of interest have come through. We will keep this offer open until October 18 so you can speak to us in person at these Markets. Members and Friends, our Sub-Branch would love you to drop by for a chat.
19.01.2022 We are delighted to congratulate Lou Kidd a very well deserving recipient of the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM), which was announced on Australia Day 2020. Lou was presented with his medal this week at Government House, Perth. The award was for services to the community, which encompassed his service to our RSL Toodyay Sub- Branch. Lou is pictured here with his wife, Anne and son, Scott after receiving his award. Well done Lou.
19.01.2022 RSL Toodyay Sub-Branch commemorated the 54th Vietnam Veterans Day today. We would like to thank all those who attended the service to help us mark this solemn occasion. It was wonderful to see so many of our members attend.
17.01.2022 An awesome day today with tremendous support at the Farmer's Market for our RSL Toodyay Sub-Branch. We thank each and every person who visited our information stall and a special thank you to Darren Slyns in stopping by, and has shown interest in supporting us with obtaining our new Headquarters in Clinton Street. It was wonderful catching up with our friendly Toodyay community and so many of our members, and it was extremely enjoyable to see some members that we haven’t seen for a little while. Our new collectable Remembrance Day stubby holders were very well received and our Containers for Change business size cards with our ID:C10299385 were available. We hope to see you all again soon at our Poppy Day Appeal (outside the IGA) and Remembrance Day Service (ANZAC Park) in November.
17.01.2022 RSL Toodyay Sub-Branch is actively looking for our Service and ex-Service personnel that may not know about the services and friendship we can offer them. Our members social BBQ will be held at Duidgee Park on Feb 21 and is open to all Service and ex-Service personnel regardless of their membership status with the RSL. You may not necessarily be a member or wish to join, however we are grateful for your service and will help you in any way available to us. I would ask if you are thinking of coming, for catering purposes, can you please contact the number on the flyer. To get this message out to our Service and ex-Service personnel I would appreciate as many people as possible share our flyer on Facebook. Thank you.
16.01.2022 Thank you, Toodyay Bakery, for your beautiful Remembrance Day window display. This is the sight that greets you at the Bakery today, and while it is beautifully done it also brings the attention to the Toodyay public and visitors alike that our RSL is about to conduct a Memorial service. On Remembrance Day, Armistice day, we honour members of our armed forces who have died in the line of duty. If you can join us, please arrive at ANZAC Park at 1030 as our service will commence at 1040. For those who can’t join us we would appreciate you observing a minute’s silence at 1100.
14.01.2022 RSL Toodyay Sub-Branch is excited to announce our involvement with the Containers for Change scheme that starts today. All funds raised will go towards our Clinton Street property which will be our first permanent home in over 100 years. We thank you in advance for any help you may give us with this fundraising.

We are so grateful for such generous donations of water poppies (Paula Greenway), plant pot (Sue Wakka), Carol Barlow for sewing the poppy aprons, the donation of poppy material and the offers from our members to help sew more aprons, along with all the lovely ladies that knitted or crocheted poppies for us and to our members who manned the stall or visited us with your support. The winner of our raffle on Friday was Gill Moffatt and the Saturday winner was Michael Wood.

We thank them for this opportunity as all donated eligible containers will go towards our first permanent home in our 101-year history. Please look for our bins if you would like to support us. Additionally, we have been given a large number of stock feed bags which we will give to members of the commu...nity who can take them to Xtreme Rhino on Tuesdays between 9:30 5:30 at the carpark behind the IGA. 04.01.2022 You may recall earlier this year it was announced that our Sub-Branch had won the Colonel Collett Cup. Due to COVID-19 the award presentation was postponed until the 26th of September at the RSLWA State Congress. We were presented with both the Colonel Collett Cup and our 100 years certificate from RSL National, which our Sub-Branch celebrated in 2019. This award would not have been possible without such active membership participation and the support of the wider Toodyay community. The Colonel Collett Cup is presented in memory of the late Colonel H.B. Collett for competition between country Sub-Branches. The Award encompasses, country Sub-Branches of more than 25 members only, with all-round performance in governance, membership, welfare, commemorations, community activities and media.
04.01.2022 We would like to thank Dowerin Events Management for the grant we received after our involvement in the Dowerin Field day last year. We are now the proud recipients of two new street flags which will be hung in Stirling Terrace to help us publicise these events.

Please contact us via Facebook or email [email protected]
03.01.2022 RSL Toodyay is sincerely grateful for the generosity and support of the Toodyay community. Friday the 18th we held our annual raffle outside the IGA and it was lovely to see so many new and familiar faces supporting us. It was also wonderful to see so many of our members give their time, whether it be time spent manning the stall or dropping by for a visit and a bit of a chat. The winner of our money tree was Heather Brennan. The cake stall held today was amply stocked with baking and plants provided by our hard working members. It was once again delightful to see so many of them participate with staffing our tables and supporting our Sub-Branch. Additionally, I cannot say enough about the support from the Toodyay community and visitors to our town, we are most grateful.
