You have followed, liked, commented, shared and messaged us constantly so we in turn can spread the word and the news. Thank you. Have a wonderful day with family and friends tomorrow. Lots of Love - TT

20.01.2022 A while ago we received this question from a TT follower. Charlie L was right onto the answer. Thanks Charlie. Question: What is that siren noise that can be heard at 7.30pm every (most) Monday nights? Answer: It’s an old air raid siren that’s attached to the top of the Auxiliary Fire Station (Toogoolawah Fire Station) which is operated by Queensland Fire & Emergency Services (QFES). The siren is part of a weekly check ...in goes for 3 rounds or blasts to ensure that it remai...ns in service. Years ago it is said that it was also used as a warning signal for the township for major incidents...way before smart phones were invented. So here’s a bit about QFES... Here in Toogoolawah district, QFES undertakes the same duties as those firefighters at the fire stations found in larger cities. The difference? Our men and women firefighters are on call 24/7 as opposed to being permanent firefighting staff who work in shifts. QFES firefighters have day jobs and are on call 24/7....however they undertake the same rigorous training as their city based colleagues. QFES is situated in the main street and houses the big red truck that attends call outs and fires.

18.01.2022 CHILDREN'S PARK UPGRADE TOOGOOLAWAH Somerset Regional Council has a rolling program in place for the upgrading of existing Somerset playgrounds. Childrens Park is due for replacement due to some elements no longer complying with the current safety standards for playgrounds. SRC are looking for your feedback on how the park should be upgraded. When TT reported the grant a few months ago, some TT followers suggested the park should be Koala themed given the number of Koalas ...in the Brisbane Valley (don't you just love the NRMA ad that was partly filmed in Toogoolawah). You might think there should be a cycling theme give the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail. You might like a fenced area for smaller kids and also heaps of shade and picnic facilities. Council obtained grant funding for the replacement of this playground under the COVID Works for Queensland (202021 COVID W4Q) Program. This Queensland Government funding is to support economic recovery. Council will install the new playground in 2021. Have your say by clicking the link below https://www.somerset.qld.gov.au//childrens-park--toogoolaw

08.01.2022 R U OK? Today is a national day set aside to better understand suicide prevention and the power of conversation with those who may be in distress. RUOK aims to inspire and empower everyone to meaningfully connect with the people around them and start a conversation with anyone who may be struggling with life. You don't need to be an expert to reach out - just a good friend and a great listener. Use these four steps and have a conversation that could change a life:... 1. Ask R U OK? 2. Listen 3. Encourage action 4. Check in Have you seen the RUOK blue tree on the highway between Toogoolawah and Esk? TT thinks it’s a poignant reminder to always keep asking this simple question of our family, friends and colleagues...and to listen to the response with focus and empathy. The Blue Tree Project began in Western Australia and encourages people to choose a dead tree that needs a "blue lease on life" and paint it in memory of a friend who lost their life to depression or had battled the illness.
