16.01.2022 Do Know Your Total Fire Ban District? Victoria is divided into nine Fire Districts which are based on council boundaries. Make sure you always know what fire district you are in whether at home or travelling. https://www.cfa.vic.gov.au/warnings/find-your-fire-district

15.01.2022 Leaving early is the safest option to protect yourself and your family. Leaving early means leaving the area before a fire starts - not when you can see flames or smell smoke. Your trigger to leave is what prompts you to act. You should use the Fire Danger Rating to determine your trigger. On Severe, Extreme or Code Red days you should not be in a high fire risk area. www.cfa.vic.gov.au/plan-prepare/your-bushfire-plan

14.01.2022 What have you packed in your Emergency Kit? Your Emergency Kit should contain essential items - like important documents, water, a mobile phone and charger, medicines and a change of clothes. https://www.cfa.vic.gov.au/plan-prepa/what-to-take-with-you

13.01.2022 Today CFA brigades were called to a number of out-of-control burn-offs If you're using the great weather to clean-up your property for fire season, make sure ...you conduct your burn-off safely. A burn-off, if not extinguished properly can re-ignite days after the original burn. Keep your burn-off safe and legal: Check fire restrictions with your local council and register your burn on 1800 668 511 Check and monitor weather conditions particularly wind To avoid unnecessary calls to emergency services, notify your neighbours beforehand Leave a three metre fire break, free from flammable materials around the burn Have sufficient equipment and water to stop the fire spreading Never leave a burn-off unattended stay for its entire duration If your burn-off gets out of control, call ‘000’ immediately

12.01.2022 Today marks the beginning of #FireActionWeek2020. From today until Sunday, CFA and our emergency services colleagues are focussing on getting Victorians better ...prepared for fire season.
