17.01.2022 Recently, a number of students from our STEM Squad participated in the Santos Scratch challenge (provided to Gladstone students by QMEA and Santos GLNG). Our students were tasked to research the operations of Santos on Curtis Island and present their findings in both an animation and an interactive quiz built through scratch programming. Our students did an incredible job and each of their submissions were outstanding. Last night, we had the privilege of taking part in a live... virtual meeting with employees of Santos LNG. Students learned about the roles and responsibilities of employees, career pathways and opportunities, personal experiences of overcoming hurdles and celebrating successes and much more. It was a very valuable session and we would like to thank Santos and Tammy from QMEA for the opportunity. During the session, results from the scratch challenge were announced. Congratulations to Jie Xi, Emily, Marianne, Sophie, Tanveer, Jesse and Benny for their amazing efforts in the challenge. A special congratulations to Tanveer who was announced as a runner up for his quiz entry. See more

05.01.2022 New Medicine Pathway in Central Queensland! CQ University recently announced that from 2022 they will be offering a Bachelor of Medical Science (Pathway to Medicine). Please see below for their announcement with more details: We have reached a significant milestone in the history of CQUniversity: the formalisation of our Regional Medical Pathway with the University of Queensland (UQ), Central Queensland Health and Hospital Service (CQHHS), and Wide Bay Health and Hospital Ser...vice (WBHHS). This landmark initiative means, for the first time, medical doctors will be educated and trained in Rockhampton and Bundaberg, without the need for students to leave their home regions and critical support networks. It also means we’ll see more regionally trained doctors entering the regional Queensland health workforce in towns like Gladstone, Emerald, Hervey Bay and Yeppoon, where they are so desperately needed. Thanks to the hard work, innovative thinking and collaborative spirit of the four partner organisations, we can now look forward to the following: CQUniversity offering a Bachelor of Medical Science (Pathway to Medicine) course from 2022, delivered at the Bundaberg and Rockhampton campuses with preference given to regional applicants; A direct pathway for eligible Bachelor of Medical Science (Pathway to Medicine) students into the University of Queensland’s Doctor of Medicine Program; and The UQ Doctor of Medicine Program being delivered in its entirety in Central Queensland and Wide Bay from 2023, with Bachelor of Medical Science (Pathway to Medicine) students progressing to it from 2025. CQUniversity's Bachelor of Medical Science (Pathway to Medicine) provides a provisional entry pathway, designed for school leavers, to UQ's regionally based Doctor of Medicine that is delivered in the Central Queensland and Wide Bay regions. The course will see an annual intake of 40 students per year, with successful applicants receiving an offer from CQUniversity and a conditional offer from UQ (contingent on completing the Bachelor within the three-year duration and achieving a GPA of 5 or better). Medical placements, internships and postgraduate and specialist training will be offered by CQHHS and WBHHS across healthcare settings within their regional footprints. Upon graduation from the MD, it is anticipated that students will pursue local career opportunities.

04.01.2022 Congratulations to all our incoming students for their participation in the orientation program over the past two days. We hope you learned lots and had some fun! Special thanks to Mr Capill, Mr O’Connor and the junior leaders for making the days run as smoothly as they did. Here’s a little snippet of the ball games competition from yesterday afternoon. A win for Elliott (6D) might be a promising sign for more Elliott wins in the future

04.01.2022 Recently, our STEM Squad students hosted and participated in a drone challenge. Nearly 100 students from 5 high schools competed in The 2020 QMEA & QGC Drone Challenge. Our STEM squad recorded and sent instructional videos to each school in the lead up the competition and all students who participated did a fantastic job of operating their drones. QMEA & QGC sponsored the event and provided equipment, staff and awards. CQUni loaned drones to schools who did not have their own.... Students were challenged to program and operate drones to fly through obstacles, land on targets and complete difficult real-life missions. As well as expanding their STEM skills and understanding, students learned the importance of team work, persistence, and creative problem-solving. Congratulations to all TSHS students who participated in the event. A special congratulations to Jie Xi, Shriyanshi and Marianne who were awarded first place overall and Sophie, Emily and Mary who received the best dressed award. Great job to all involved! Thanks to Mr Capill, Tammy Grady Qmea and QGC for making it happen
