12.01.2022 An evaluation film from the evaluation of Desert Pea Media

11.01.2022 A fascinating article reflecting on ancient wisdom, systems evaluation, and Tyson Yunkaporta's brilliant book Sand Talk... "As Tyson Yunkaporta says, ‘adaptation is the most important protocol of an agent in a sustainable system’. We should be realistic about what our interventions may be sufficient for achieving and we should not anticipate that what worked here and now will work there and then. We need to unburden ourselves from our mental model of a clockwork universe, whe...re programs either work or don’t work and are easily replicated and scaled up. Programs are not complicated machines. They are living, breathing organisms that adapt and thrive in some contexts and become extinct in others. Tyson reminds us of the wisdom of his elders ‘if you don’t move with the land, the land will move you’." https://www.artd.com.au//ancient-wisdom-and-systems-eval/

04.01.2022 For over a year, Leanganook Yarn has been working with Desert Pea Media, a non-profit whose mission is to work with Original Nations Australians to create social change through collaborative storytelling. Natalie Moxham, founder of Leanganook Yarn and one of the facilitators of our Tools for Participation Training coming up in October, has been working with Desert Pea to measure their Theory Of Change, enabling the organisation and its funders to better understand the impac...t of its work with young people and communities. In DPM's own words, "the process has stimulated some fascinating and challenging learnings for DPM, as we reflect on our work, the community and how best to ‘sharpen our edges’. The evaluation also produced an ‘evaluation film’,. which was co/directed by Natalie and DPM filmmaker Mitchell O'Hearn (film coming soon!). In the meanwhile, here's a short film about the DPM 2020 Cultural Camp held in March, which was co-facilitated by Leanganook Yarn. Enjoy! See more
