25.01.2022 Looking to brush up on your cricket skills in January, Toombul DCC will be again hosting a High Performance Academy, for boys and girls 11-15 years on January 4th and 5th. All players will receive specialist coaching in batting, bowling and fielding. Video analysis and a written report highlighting strengths and areas to work on will be provided to every boy and girl. Pending advice from Queensland Cricket and health authorities we hope to reschedule tomorrows games to Sunday 22nd March. Whilst this may seem unlikely, we will do our best to have the correct health and safety protocols in place so the kids can finish the season with a gam...e of cricket. 16.01.2022 Hi All Unfortunately, with the current situation involving COVID-19; all remaining cricket for the 19/20 season is CANCELLED. This includes our Friday night Junior and Master Blasters and our Saturday BNJCA competition. The cancellations are in line with Cricket Australia recommendations. CA have today released a statement which has said the following:... CA has strongly recommended that all amateur cricket played within the community should cease including community cricket and premier cricket. While many competitions are coming to an end, we are mindful that some competitions are only just commencing however the recommendation applies to all competitions and training. This decision is consistent with the measures taken to safeguard professional cricket at the elite level and is supported by State and Territory Associations. Toombul DCC fully supports this position. Putting the health & safety of all participants, volunteers and the wider community first, and in line with the decisions made for elite cricket, is paramount in these times. 16.01.2022 Attention: U14, U15 and U16 Players (2020/21 Season) Toombul District Cricket Club is conducting a trial and development day on Sunday 1st March for the 2020/21 Development squad and Lord Taverners Squad. The club would like to invite any interested player who is eligible to play U14-U16s in the 2020/21 season to attend (DOB: 1/9/04 31/8/07). The day will be run by our qualified coaches from 8.30am 4/4.30pm at Toombul District Cricket Club. The players will have access ...to the centre wickets on Ken Mackay and La Frantz Oval as well as the nets. Participation numbers will determine the format of the day, but there may be a game played on the main oval so please bring your playing attire as well as some training attire. A sausage sizzle will be provided for lunch however you are welcomed to bring your own lunch. Toombul is a club of opportunity and has a rich history of producing Australian players in recent times including Chris Lynn, Matthew Renshaw, Cameron Boyce and Ryan Harris. 14.01.2022 Hi to all our budding U9 Master Blasters from last season and new players ready to move on to Saturday U10 Junior Competition. Heres a little summary of the U10 (DOB playing age: 1/9/20-31/8/11) format: - Matches for the Under 10 age groups will be played as single day games over 40 overs, divided into two innings of 20 overs each.... - 7 a side teams (5 minimum, 9 maximum) play on a 16m pitch with a modified soft KD plastic 105g ball where the focus is on player development and participation. - Players must be able to bowl on the pitch without throwing. - Games are played Saturday mornings, 7.15 9am or 9.30 11am in the Brisbane North region against clubs affiliated with BNJCA. - There are nine games in the pre Xmas season, starting 10th October, finishing 5th December. 09.01.2022 Cricket Australia are currently in the process of developing a Female-only Online/Blended Representative Coach Course to be run in the 20/21 season. A female only course provides a range of benefits as follows : 1. Ongoing learning will help increase cricket/coaching knowledge; 2. Being more knowledgeable will help them gain more respect in their community;... 3. The female only course provides a forum in which they can share their experiences and opinions free from judgement; 4. Increase the number of female presenters to fill the void/stigma that we dont have enough role models; 5. Provide female presenters the opportunity to gain experience (e.g. public speaking/ presenting) contributing to their leadership skills.
