21.01.2022 Townsville Northern Access Intersections Upgraded (TNAIU) Project Update. This morning in parliament, I used my first Question on Notice of the term to as...k the Minister for Transport and Main Roads the following: The Townsville Northern Access Intersections Upgrade project has received strong criticism from distressed stakeholders in respect to safety and design concerns. Will the Minister and the Department of Transport and Main Roads review this project and consider making changes to the design that have been put forward by affected road users in order to meet community expectations? I am looking forward to his written response. Recently, I wrote to the Minister regarding the TNAIU project to highlight a list of potential design flaws these were brought to my attention by affected road users and property owners in the area. I am currently waiting for a response. Subsequently, this morning I was offered a briefing by the Minister’s office and TMR representatives to update me on the project. My message on behalf of the community was clear - the expectation of locals and road users have not been met. The community has not been adequately consulted during the design phase and the layout of the project falls short of the public’s expectations. TMR needs to do better. The Department must reassess their current consultation process. Better community engagement must happen on this and future projects. During today’s meeting, I was assured the Minister would respond as soon as possible to my letter that addresses the public’s concerns with the current design and response to their suggestions. Hinchinbrook should be celebrating this kind of project. Duplication of the Bruce Highway should improve safety on our roads, but any major highway upgrade must include bringing adjoining property owners, affected residents and road users along for the journey. This means including them in the design phase. I believe this is the best way to ensure road projects like this can be a success. Nick Dametto MP.

13.01.2022 I have just received this message from a lady that has lost her Bracelet whilst fishing at Toomulla. If anyone is out at Toomulla Beach near the Esplanade or have a metal detector... I've lost my Michael hill (Emma & Roe) gold charm braclet. I was fishing to the right of the beach walk access (before the camping area) on Friday 11.09.2020 It holds more sentimental value than monetary.
