The lock down in Melbourne does not effect us, however all of our preventative measures will remain in place. This includes: following the request for adults not to enter the school grounds as per the signs on the fence as entry points, continued additional cleaning, sanitation and students washing and using hand sanitiser. Enjoy the weekend

18.01.2022 Hello Everyone, Just a quick reminder that this Friday is a public holiday, therefore there is no school. I hope you all get to enjoy the long weekend. Go Tigers!!

17.01.2022 Dear Families, Earlier this week I received further information regarding the return to school for next term. Week one is to remain as learning from home for all schools in the state. All children in regional areas will be returning during the week commencing October 12th. As we are a small school and can readily manage the transition back to onsite learning, have opted for all students to return to school on Monday October 12th. ... Packs will be ready on Monday 5th October. You are welcome to collect them on that day them between 9-11am. I thank you all, for the time and dedication that you have provided in working with us in the endeavour to maintain your childs learning. Please be assured, that like most of you, we are really looking forward to when we have the children back in school. Out of the mouth of an anonymous Toongabbie student, Remote Learning sucks. We have planned a series of fun filled learning activities for next week for children to participate in, as a celebration for all the effort that they have applied throughout home learning. There will also be 2 webex sessions, and maybe a surprise guest or two, so keep your eyes peeled for those. On Friday the 18th we would like the following items returned Foundation tubs with all of their bits and pieces, all borrowed sports equipment, chocolate drive money, along with any outstanding learning pack work. If I receive any further updates on the return to school, I will let you know via email or through our face book page. Regards Alison

16.01.2022 Hello families, Late yesterday, we received notification from the Education department that you are allowed back in the school grounds. Yeah!!!! If you are staying more than 15 mins you must sign in at the office. Masks must be worn if you are going inside the buildings and continued prevention techniques including washing hands and the use of sanitiser prevail.. This means that you are welcome to come and check out the book fair with your children, but are limited to n...o more than 2 families browsing together at a time. This will help with the selection and payment for books as this can be done on the spot. You are welcome to come before and after school to do so today tomorrow and Monday.

16.01.2022 A bit of bubbly fun for those on site once they had finished their work for the day.

16.01.2022 Some family fun time coming on Wed 2nd September. Keep your eye out for the webex link.

14.01.2022 Please see the message below from our Parents and Friends Association regarding Tree Drive Fundraiser. Dear Families and the Wider Community, Were hope you are all well during these unusual times. ... Were just giving you an update on the tree fundraiser you are all so patiently waiting for. We have been working very hard behind the scenes to get this order as soon as possible but we have had a few hurdles. There has been a delay with the supplier and then more delays when trying to source transport due the state of disaster and being unable to travel. Anyway at this stage we are expecting them to be delivered next week, ready for collecting next weekend. We will be in contact with everyone who placed an order personally to arrange a contactless collection time. Please be patient with us at this time. We also ask for your understanding when it comes to items being unavailable. The supplier has made us aware that some varieties have been unavailable due to unforeseen circumstances. For those that selected substitutes they will be made to you if possible, and those that requested a refund, we will discuss with you when you make your collection and get them to you as soon as possible. We thank you immensely for your patience and appreciate your support for this fundraiser Regards Toongabbie Primary Parents and Friends Association

14.01.2022 Hello everyone, Just a quick reminder that School Photos will be taken tomorrow morning. Please send the photo envelopes with your child.

13.01.2022 Dear families, Just to let you know that we have had an incident at the school this morning involving our student teacher, who was preparing for a science lesson. He has been taken by ambulance for treatment. As it involved chemicals, the fire brigade and police have also attended. The incident was limit to the teacher office and no children witnessed or were involved in the situation. Some children heard a loud bang as it happened. Mrs Peck was teaching in the nearby clas...sroom at the time and has dealt with the situation, with expediency and expertise. We have spoken to all children and explained the situation. They have been asked to talk to their classroom teacher if they have further questions. Regards Alison

13.01.2022 Dear School Community The school council have been informed from the Department of Education and Training that Garry Vear has resigned from the principal ship of Toongabbie Primary School, citing the ongoing medical effects of an incident in 2017. The staff and I, am sure that you all wish the best for Garry going forward. We will be considering some way of recognising his contributions to the school of his time as principal, which will be undertaken this term.... As a result of his resignation, the School Council has been asked to commence the process to advertise for a substantive principal to commence in 2021. Regards Alison Stewart and Pepper Coles

13.01.2022 A big congratulations to some of our students and Ms McWatters. Over the past week they have been competing in the Education Perfect Global Language championships in German. In the Education Perfect Global Language championships we achieved the best results in German for small schools ( 1-50 students) in Victoria i.e. we were 1st out of 10 schools; throughout Australia we were ranked 3rd for German (total of 38 schools); out of the 1,186 schools (globally) competing in... German we ranked 210th. When all languages were compared across Australia of the 172 schools involved we ranked as 25th! From the mouth of Ms Mac I believe the children have done us proud especially in the current circumstances. It is very humbling! I also believe that the emphasis on culture encourages student engagement. I hope our families enjoy the childrens success. A wonderful well deserved achievement.

12.01.2022 Dear Parents and Guardians, Just a quick update on how we are looking at organising our remote learning. Pack Pick Up and Drop Off For this week only, pack pick up will occur tomorrow from 9 12 with pack being picked up from outside the office. ... You will be able to just walk in, sanitise and then search in your childs classroom box for the pack. This pack will have work in it for the next 3 days only. 9 9:30 A-D 9:30 10 E G 10 - 10:30 H K 10:30 11 L O 11:- 11:30 P T 11:30 12 U Z On Friday afternoon from 12 3 we will also have pack drop off and pick up. The Friday time will become our ongoing timeslot throughout this stint of remote learning. Due to more stringent restrictions unfortunately you will not be able to catch up with the teaching staff at this time. 12 12:30 A D 12:30 1 E G 1 1:30 H K 1:30 2 L O 2 2:30 P T 2:30 3 U Z If you are unable to make it at these times please ring an let us know, so that we can organise a suitable alternative. We apologise for the doubling up this week, but have found it unrealistic to try and organise a longer pask given that the teachers have only had today to prepare. On-site supervision As previously mentioned, the school will remain open for on-site supervision for families who need to access this option. Please contact the school if you need to have supervision for your child.

12.01.2022 Dear Families and community members, We invite you to join us outside the school gates on Tuesday 24th November at 3:00 pm to say thanks to Garry Vear for his contributions to the Toongabbie School Community and to wish him well for the future.

11.01.2022 Dear families, Just a quick reminder that school finishes at 2:15pm on Friday. We will have our final assembly for the term at 2 pm out near the flagpole weather permitting.

10.01.2022 I disappointingly received a phone call from Melissa Tatnell, letting us know that Christian's bike has been taken from the bike shed at school. Christian went home sick late last week and his bike was left behind. He has seen a boy whom he described as being about 14 riding the bike and approached him asking for it back. The boy rode off. If you have seen a black BMX with white on the front forks, or know of its whereabouts, please contact the school or Melissa, as we would ...appreciate its return. I am also disappointed to see that that our soccer goals, which were broken in one place have been further damaged through the corner bracket being broken. This means that we will now need to replace the entire unit instead of just one pole. I am happy for members of the community to access our school facilities, however, in return I expect that our facilities are left in the manner they were found. Alison

09.01.2022 This is the lastest information I have received regarding coronavirus from the Department. Although it is targeted toward schools currently in remote learning, the message is relevant to all schools.

The stall will be held on Friday the 4th of September during pack collection. If your child is unable to attend then the teacher will be able to choose a gift for your child. 07.01.2022 This little fellow turned up this afternoon in our senior playground. He seems reasonably quiet and just hopped on a clipboard and let me carry him inside to my office. Please share our post so that we can find the owner as soon as possible. Ring the school on 51924384

07.01.2022 Dear families, As you are aware, that from midnight Sunday when leaving your home anyone over the age of 12 is expected to wear a face mask. Outlined below is the information that I have been directed to on the Department of Education website, regarding the wearing of masks that we will be following as from Monday. All school-based staff must wear face coverings at school, and when travelling to and from school. ... Teachers and education support staff will not be required to wear face coverings while teaching, but those who wish to do so, can. Teachers should wear face coverings in other areas of the school when not teaching (for example, in the staffroom, on yard duty and when providing first aid or taking temperatures), and when travelling to and from school. Students who attend primary school will not be required to wear a face covering. Students who are aged 12 or over by Year 6 will not be required to wear face coverings. The Victorian Chief Health Officer has advised that it is not practical to require some primary school students to wear face coverings while others are not required to. Some students and staff are exempt from these requirements. This includes students or staff who have a medical condition - including problems with their breathing, a serious skin condition on the face, a disability or a mental health condition. This includes students who attend specialist schools. Parents and Carers will be required to wear face coverings whenever they leave the house, including for school drop off and pick up. If they are travelling in a car alone, or only with members of their household, they do not need to wear a mask. I will keep you updated with any further information as I am provided with it. Please keep safe and enjoy your weekend. Regards Alison

During the last two weeks Foundation and Grade 1/2 students have celebrated their achievement. During these days the children often choose a theme and undertake several activities based around the theme. Grade 1/2 chose a wheels day and Foundation have chosen P theme day.

Also if you have any suggestions for improving on our last round of remote learning, your feedback would be gratefully appreciated. I will update you on any further information as I am provided with the details, including organisation of learning packs. Alison
