23.01.2022 #BeyondAcademics: In a disrupted year, many students are asking themselves 'Where are my positive emotions at? How do I feel about my level of sleep and nutrition? Where is my purpose? How do I feel when I accomplish something?' In today's Sunday Age, read what Mrs Kendall says about our Flourishing program and how we use data to inform every student's personal growth.

23.01.2022 #RUOKDay: There has never been a more important time to ask someone 'R U OK?' We know the profound impact of someone reaching out and starting a conversation and hope our community are asking 'R U OK?' to those around them today. We also hope those that need a conversation are trusting those that reach out and letting themselves be heard.

13.01.2022 #FindingMyShine: Year 11 student Zoe has always loved music and throughout our remote learning period has continued to be heavily involved in the Toorak College music program as a member of the Flute Ensemble, Symphony Orchestra, Concert Band and Sisters of Swing Jazz Band. Toorak inspires me to push my limits, and this allows me to play at my best. Living in the boarding house also allows me to spend any spare moments practising and improving my musicianship, and provides m...e with the chance to encourage some of my friends to do the same. While online music projects aren't quite the same as being on-site, it's always exciting when I get to listen to everyone playing together. It isn't often as a musician that you get to sit back and watch your orchestra play, since you're normally in the thick of it, and getting such a chance has been amazing. Everyone's playing so well, and I've loved being able to see them in action! I'm especially looking forward to seeing everyone perform in our Virtual Soiree tonight! Keep up the amazing work Zoe, good luck with your performance tonight, and we cant wait to see you back on stage soon. 04.01.2022 #Term3Recap: Just like that we farewell Term 3! Despite the challenges, we have made the most of the opportunities that have presented and together we have achieved so much. Today we celebrate just 10 of our Term 3 highlights. Our virtual Science Week had all students engage in a variety of activities to develop their STEM skills and passion for science. Volcanoes were made, eggs were dropped and some students even made lungs and hearts at home! Year 12 students enjoyed a PJ ...day and decorated Bardon House before resuming their online learning. In their final year, we are so proud of how they are supporting each other and making the most of a disrupted year. Book Week moved online and students were encouraged to celebrate their favourite literary characters during our dress-up day. Daily riddles and challenges kept students and staff on their toes! Our Music department broadcast a Virtual Soiree featuring over 80 acts with 400 members of our community in attendance. The Grace Notes choir reminded us of the power of connection with their incredible rendition of 'Skylark'. The Active August challenge saw 160 students complete too many push-ups, burpees and laps around the block to count. Many of our sports teams continued their online training programs and were even joined by some superstar guests! Many of our Junior School students learnt a new skill as we welcomed Cosentino to Toorak and learnt the secrets to three magical illusions. We also enjoyed a high-energy Zumba session on R U OK? Day. Our Year 6 students showed great creativity and problem-solving skills to hold our first ever online PYP exhibition. Well done girls on some fantastic presentations! We continued to give back to our community with our boarders using their free time to knit blankets for chemotherapy patients at Frankston Hospital and our SRC raising awareness and funds for our partner charity, One Girl. Many of our dads joined our virtual classrooms for a day and over 120 families enjoyed our breakfast box to celebrate Father's Day. We continued to support the wellbeing of our students, alumni and families with a series of online presentations and events to help us navigate our way through the lockdown. We hope you all enjoy your well-earned break and we cant wait to welcome our staff and students back to campus throughout Term 4. #FindYourShine

02.01.2022 #FindingMyShine: Year 8 student Nadia started her business journey at just 11! Her creative flare and passion for jewellery has seen Nadia create one of a kind pieces sold through her online store https://hubs.ly/H0vxJ3h0 Toorak constantly reminds me that girls can do anything. I think this has had a big influence on me because it is so true to me. The teachers at Toorak are constantly reminding the students of this, and this is such an awesome thing to be reminded of. Too...rak's art programme has influenced me. The creativity and inspiration I have gained through the art programme I think is definitely visible in my designs...I have an established online store, where you can purchase earrings, and I have expanded into earrings made out of ink now too. We cant wait to see where this journey takes you Nadia! #FindYourShine

02.01.2022 #FindingMyShine: When the Victorian Government introduced mandatory masks, Year 10 student Olivia took action campaigning for Bridging the Gap Foundation while keeping our school community and the environment safe. The introduction of mandatory masks will put a huge strain on the supply of masks in Victoria and single-use masks are unsustainable. I also wanted to use these difficult circumstances to shed light on the ongoing inequalities faced by Indigenous Australians. To ...date, Olivia made over 100 masks and has donated over $1000 to The Bridging the Gap Foundation. The support so far has been overwhelming and I am so excited to donate the funds I have made to the Bridging the Gap Foundation. Well done Olivia for finding a silver lining as we face COVID-19 restrictions. We are all inspired by your work! #FindYourShine
