21.01.2022 Charcoal toothpastes are the latest fad in toothpastes, but is there any evidence that they perform as advertised?! Ads on social media especially often claim that they brighten/whiten your teeth, detoxify your mouth and a whole host of other claimed benefits. Without providing any evidence to back their claims. However mounting evidence is telling us that charcoal toothpaste could infact be harmful for your teeth, mouth and health in general. 20.01.2022 COVID19 - Restrictions Eased:- Great news! Due to the improving situation the previous government restrictions have been eased as of this coming Monday the 27th of April. This allows dentists to see all patients in need of treatment as well as regular checkups. There will remain some minor limitations to treatment and we are implementing many additional recommendations to enhance infection control.... Changes include: - Screening patients for respiratory/flu symptoms over the phone. - Restricting use of instruments that generate aerosols. - Pre-appointment mouthwash for patients. - Intensive environmental/surface cleaning between patients. - Social distancing in our waiting areas. - Additional time between patients to enable social distancing as well as cleaning. - Stringent hand hygiene for staff and patients. These changes are in addition to our 'standard precautions' that have been in place, such as: sterilisation of all dental instruments, disinfection of dental chair surfaces between patients, as well as appropriate PPE (e.g. masks, gloves and eye-wear) for our staff. If you have been waiting to make an appointment, please call us on (03) 9826 1337 We will be contacting patients with deferred appointments to reschedule those appointments as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience and we hope you are all well and safe. Kind Regards Dr David Clarke and Dr Matthew Clarke

16.01.2022 We would like to update you on the evolving situation with COVID-19 (Coronavirus), its impact on dental care and how we are responding to keep our valued patients and staff healthy. We are following closely the advice of the Health Department, the ADA and other Authorities and are getting daily updates from all these bodies and implementing their best practice recommendations. At this time we are advised by those authorities that it is still safe to be treating patients given... certain precautions are being taken. As such the Toorak Dental Group is taking every precaution to prevent the spread of infectious diseases including COVID-19. Numerous measures are being taken or enhanced which include: - Screening of patients on the phone before attending for any flu-like symptoms, recent overseas travel and contact with infected persons. We are asking that patients with any respiratory symptoms, fever or illness delay their treatment at this time. - Strict hand hygiene and the elimination of hand-shaking. We have alcohol hand sanitisier available to patients and is encouraging all patients to use it before and after treatment. - Our regular infection control protocols have been reviewed and reinforced. As we have always done, all instruments used on patients are thoroughly cleaned and sterilised, all clinical surfaces are thoroughly cleaned between each patient with hospital grade disinfectant. - Personal protective equipment, as always, is being worn by our dentists and dental assistants such as: masks, gloves and glasses to protect themselves and our patients from any transmission - Regular and additional intensive environmental cleaning of other non-clinical areas and surfaces such as door handles, toilets, waiting rooms and reception areas has been stepped up. - Strict cough and sneeze protocols to prevent the spread of aerosols. Ensuring all team members maintain a high standard of personal hygiene. This includes staying home if at all unwell. The health and well-being of our patients, our team and the community are our main priorities. We will continue to keep you informed about this evolving health issue. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us. Finally we would like to wish you and your families well. Kind Regards Dr David Clarke and Dr Matthew Clarke

15.01.2022 SHOULD I USE MOUTHWASH AS WELL AS BRUSHING AND FLOSSING MY TEETH? Mouthwash is very well advertised in the media and is prominent at the supermarket, which leads a lot of people to think its a vital part of an oral hygiene routine. However in most cases its is really the least important part and usually optional! Click below to find out more! https://toorakdentalgroup.squarespace.com//should-i-use-mo

10.01.2022 We would like to give you another update on the evolving situation with COVID-19 (Coronavirus). Overnight we have received an update from the government authorities, that all dentists are being required to move to Level 3 restrictions to dental practice. That requires us to defer all routine treatment, this includes regular checkups, fillings etc. However we are able to see emergency patients and we are going to be staying open to see those emergency patients by arrangement.... The government has defined emergencies as patients experiencing pain or with significant damage to a front tooth. We will be reducing our on-site presence in the surgery. However we will be remotely monitoring messages left on the phone and returning calls during regular business hours. Additionally we will be calling patients who have appointments already scheduled for the coming weeks to reschedule/defer those appointments. At this point we are unsure how long these restrictions will be left in place but we will keep you updated as the situation continues to evolve. We would like to thank all our loyal patients for their patience in these difficult times. Finally again we would like to wish you and your families well. Kind Regards
