18.01.2022 Celebrations Around the World - Day of the Dead Our Stage Two students have been exploring many different global celebrations. This week we looked at "Day of The Dead" which is celebrated in Mexico and Latin America. It is a time when people remember friends and family who have passed away and celebrate their lives. ... They eat the favourite foods, play the favourite music and do the favourite activities of the deceased persons. It is a happy, joyful and positive time. People wear colourfully, decorated masks (calaveras) during this time. Here are some of 3/4 Jade's magnificient masks. See more

12.01.2022 April, our wonderful Canteen Coordinator, needs more helpers to keep our canteen running smoothly five days a week. April is more than happy to arrange a time slot that will suit any volunteer. You can come in for just one 9am to midday shift a month on a day that suits you. If you are available for longer or more often - brilliant! - she will happily slot you in. Canteen is a fantastic way to be involved at school, especially at the moment when parent/family helper positi...ons are not possible due to our current Covid restrictions. We really value our volunteers at school and our children love seeing our volunteers when they shop at the canteen. Thank you April for doing an amazing job and to our current volunteers for your contribution to our school and our Toormina students.

01.01.2022 There has been some beautifully creative artworks going up around our school. Mrs Evans and students from 5/6V and 5/6G have enjoyed combining their imaginative ideas and creativity in a wonderful collage between the library and the Stage 3 block. The colourful display represents a wild mind bubble filled with lots of curious creatures, brought about through the wonderful world of books.... Aunty Colleen and Mrs McDermott have also brought their vision of this year's NAIDOC theme "Always Was, Always Will Be" to life in the Stage 1 block. Our youngest students have used screen printing to build the trunk and their artworks hang as leaves from the tree. Students also sprinkled soil among the roots of this tactile and beautiful artwork. Both students and staff are loving these latest additions to our school!
