23.01.2022 ***COACHING & CAPTAIN ANNOUNCEMENT*** The Tootgarook Cricket Club is thrilled to announce the appointment of JASON LANE as senior coach for the 2020/21 cricket season. Jason has a wealth of cricket and coaching experience, and will demand high standards from everyone at the club. We are extremely lucky to have him on board and he is looking forward to the season ahead.... The club would also like to thank Trav French for his previous two years of captaincy, however he has chosen to resign from the job so he can place more focus on his batting and his new role as Womens assistant coach. So, in this time we find it appropriate to announce that the 1st XI captain for the 20/21 season and beyond will be ANDY LIBBY, who will be supported by vice captain TODD HARNETT. We have some great people leading the club, and it is good to see the club in safe hands.

There will be many past and current legends at the game tomorrow, so if you were thinking of coming along, then there is no better day.... Also, we are delighted to announce our 'host' for the day is the great Graeme Stanley. The Stanley's have been an integral part of our club, with Graeme and the late Judy Stanley being pivotal in developing this club into the family focused club it is today. Further, their son Russell is also a life member of the Tootgarook Cricket Club, and has also put countless hours into helping the club in any way possible. 15.01.2022 Final Leaderboards for our Senior Vote Count for the 2019/20 Season

15.01.2022 *****GRAND FINALS CANCELLED****** Tonight the MPCA released a statement regarding the cancellation of this seasons grand finals. We understand how difficult this decision would have been to make and with the current worldwide Coronavirus epidemic the health and welfare of all cricketers, officials, supporters and families must be paramount.... Whilst expected and in line with an earlier Cricket Australia statement, it is an extremely disappointing moment for the clubs second eleven team. With 29 players having played in this team throughout the year, making the grand final was truly a whole of club effort and not being able to take on a very good side in the final will be disappointing for many. We are extremely proud of all your efforts. Below is the MPCA statement. Players, Administrators, Umpires and Supporters, I wish to inform you that the MPCA Board has decided to cancel the 2019/2020 finals series which would have been run over this coming weekend. We understand this is extremely disappointing for all clubs that have made it into the Finals after a long season. It will also be disappointing to those clubs who have put their hands up to host the Finals at their grounds. The decision has not been taken lightly and has been one of considerable discussion and angst for the Board. This decision is in line with Cricket Victorias directive received today from Cricket Australia and Cricket Victoria (see the following Extract from the attachment), Cricket Australia, in consultation with its State and Territory Associations, has cancelled the Marsh Sheffield Shield final for 2019/20 and Cricket Victoria has taken the further step of cancelling all Premier Cricket finals from this week onwards. We expect local community cricket and school competitions to take the same leadership position and cancel all cricket playing and training activity for the remainder of the 2019/20 season in response to this unprecedented global health issue. The MPCA Board feels that it must take the advice seriously in order to assist with COVID-19 (Corona Virus) risk mitigation measures and help protect not only all members in the MPCA but those in the wider community . No decision has been made in regards to making a determination on the awarding of Premierships in all senior grades yet, the Board will be discussing this over the next few days and will convey that outcome at a later date. The MPCA Board also makes a strong recommendation to all clubs to seriously consider postponing or cancelling any planned social events, including Junior and Senior Club Presentation Nights. The MPCA Board thanks you for your cooperation and understanding. 12.01.2022 AND...... here are our judges for Tootgarooks got talent

12.01.2022 The 2020 AGM will be held THIS SATURDAY (6th June) @ 6pm, at the TCC clubrooms. Please come along if you would like to have a say in how the club is run. All positions are open, however at this stage, we are still after nominations for the secretary and treasurer position.... No previous experience is necessary, and cricket knowledge is not a requirement for either of these roles. If it is something that you may be interested in, and if you are looking for a way to give back to the club, then please let us know via email: [email protected]

11.01.2022 The Tootgarook Cricket Club would like to thank Paul Flash Stevenson for his hard work over the last two years, leading this great club. Over the last two years, the 1st XI made their first grand final in nearly 40 years, and this season our 2nd XI were to play off in the grand final, whilst our 3rd XI also managed to participate in finals action. Flash lead the club through some challenging times, and the club is really appreciative.... However, the time has come were we are seeking applicants for the coaching role for next season!

11.01.2022 On a bit more of a serious note , as the Coach, I feel I need to comment about where we are currently at as a club! At the beginning of the season, I spoke to 45 people that committed themselves to playing for our club this season, and with their mates. It’s disappointing that every single Saturday , we are having to battle so hard to field our three sides. I understand some have occasional work commitments, or family functions etc - but we have many people making themselves ...unavailable WITHOUT fronting either myself privately, or the match committee, to explain their situations. We also seem to not have people lending us support, when you could be doing so. This isn’t a criticism from me , it’s actually a cry for help. Our club deserves more than we , as a group, are giving it. We used to have full club rooms after training, especially on selection nights. We used to have numerous players miss out on games, because everyone wanted to play for our great club - win, lose, or draw. PLEASE , if you can do more than you currently are - PLEASE get involved again . We want EVERYONE involved, and the atmosphere to improve again. (If you can please help fill our thirds team - WE NEED YOU this team is in the finals hunt, and we may have to forfeit this week ) Our teams - 1st XI vs Boneo @ home A LIBBY T HARNETT T FRENCH J BRADSHAW S LONG C DEBRUYN J LONG S STERLING R FRENCH C CHRYSTIE J MILLINGTON 2nds vs boneo @ boneo A TAYLOR T GOLDSMID C STEVENSON Z STEVENSON C DENNIS M HUMPHREY N ROLLINGS SIMRAN (BOBBY) N.STAFFORD E.HILTON T.B.A ? 3rds v Dromana @ Mace oval Mt Martha B French D . 11.01.2022 Today (and tomorrow), the beginning of Round 1 of our 2020/21 Season, our players wear black arm bands to remember Dale Stephens and show awareness for Mental Health. 09.01.2022 Good luck to all our players this weekend! Dinner is available at the club rooms tonight and will be served by our 2nd XI team. We hear the skipper cooks a mean Souvlaki

09.01.2022 St Andrews Beach Brewery Man Of The MatchIt was a terrific innings from Tootgarook Cricket Club's Trav French who was patient, but also picked his moments to go for big boundaries and finished with 92 runs. We declared him our man of the match on Saturday for a terrific knock and great glove work.

09.01.2022 Sharing warm and joyous wishes to each of you this Christmas.

09.01.2022 ** MPCA 2020-2021 Season Update ** To all our Clubs and their members, Here is an update in regards to where we are with the forthcoming MPCA 2020/2021 season.... As you will all be aware the State Government last Sunday 6th provided a Road Map for how the state would move forward over the next few months. Roadmap: https://www.vic.gov.au/coronavirus-covid-19-restrictions-ro Whilst community cricket, training and matches are not currently permitted in any form in Victoria until the current Stage 4 and Stage 3 restrictions are lifted, the current restrictions are listed to continue until the 26th of October in our location as we are defined to live in the Metropolitan Melbourne area. We have meetings planned for this forthcoming week as a Board and Pennant Committees and we totally understand the frustration by Clubs as to when the season will start, also as to what the season will look like. Since our last update we have met with both local Councils, Cricket Victoria and I have also had discussions personally with the President and Secretary of the VCCL, all parties are still working tirelessly with the State Government and the peak bodies of each party. In regards to local councils, they are well advanced in getting the grounds prepared for the coming season with an estimated 90% ready as of now. We also had discussions around costs that will be in regards to ground fees and what protocols will be in place regarding cleaning, we have another meeting planned with the councils on the 17th of September. We are expecting that the cricket peak bodies will be in a position to provide return to train and play protocols by mid to end of next week. We and many other Cricket Associations have raised concerns that the protocols should also be able to be modified by the local associations to suit their individual requirements provide they must meet all the Department of Health Requirements this I believe has been taken on board by Cricket Victoria and they should be congratulated on this. In discussions with the VCCL a decision has not been made around Country week and or Representative games, however we are aware and I believe this has been communicated to all clubs that the 2020-21 Australian Country Cricket Championships have been cancelled due to Cricket Australias financial status, complicated obviously by the COVID-19 pandemic, have made it untenable for the planning of the championships to proceed. The VCCL are still looking at retaining Victorian Country men and women matches along with Melbourne Country Week, the Dukes Under 21 Championships, and representative matches against the VSDCA and the VMCU will be the subject of ongoing VCCL discussions in coming weeks. If the Metropolitan Melbourne restrictions are not changed in anyway then the MPCA are looking at starting around mid November 14th , this will allow at least two to three weeks training and possibly a practice game this will also hopefully help Clubs by practicing and refining the COVID-19 protocols around cricket. Discussions with Clubs as to formats will occur however it is the Board and Pennants view currently, that games will be One Day formats, we are hoping this will allow 14 rounds for this season for some of the following reasons: - Allows more games to be finished should a COVID-19 third wave hit. - Avoids potentially shutting down a match (or entire round) mid match (after day 1 but before day 2) where one or more players are impacted by COVID-19. - All players, batters, bowlers and fielders get to be involved every week instead of the two day format where some players could be waiting till the following week to get involved then getting called off due weather. - Allows other options this season if we cannot get started as predicted. We are also wanting to see if we can have the T20 Jack Peacock matches played however this may or may not be in the same format or fixturing, of course some of the restriction will be around: - Utilisation of facilities. - Cost impacts on Clubs. - Impacts on volunteers. I hope to provide further updates as changes come to light, I also wish to hold a Club Presidents Zoom meeting next Thursday 17th at 7:00pm. (Invite to come). If Clubs have questions then forward to the MPCA General Manager at [email protected] We wont have all the answers I am sure however we will attempt to answer those we can or follow up at a later date once we get an answer. For now stay safe and stay connected online through our various platforms. Kind Regards, Stephen Morone MPCA President
