Here is a cute picture of our practice manager's little Alby saying hello to the Kangaroo's at the Currumbin Wild Life Sanctuary on Sunday. So wonderful to see all of our favourite places finally re-opening.

Brushing If you are like most people, you probably don’t give much thought to how you brush your teeth, beyond squirting on some toothpaste and brushing back and forth. But as your dentist will tell you, your brushing technique matters. How often you brush, how long you brush for - your brushing technique and the toothbrush you choose can all influence the effectiveness of your brushing. Make every bru...Continue reading

18.01.2022 I just wanted to thank all of our amazing patients for their kindness, understanding and support whilst our practice was closed, EVERY single person that was rescheduled/cancelled was so understanding of the difficult decision we had to make to close our practice - I’d also like to thank Dr Tom, the amazing owner and boss man of Toothpaste, for remaining so calm and positive and for always putting the needs of his patients and staff before himself. As a business owner this has been a very stressful time for him and his wife Ellia especially after their recent wedding. Thank you everyone and we look forward to seeing you all soon.

18.01.2022 10 TIPS FOR DAILY ORAL CARE AT HOME. Everyone wants to enjoy the benefits of tip-top oral hygiene: a pearly white smile, fresh-smelling breath, and healthy pink gums. Making sure your mouth stays healthy is a major reason for visiting the dentist and there’s nothing like that squeaky-clean feeling you get all around your mouth after you’ve had a routine checkup and a professional cleaning! Hopefully, you see your dentist twice a year; but in between visits, it’s up to you t...Continue reading

17.01.2022 Did you know? Taste buds have very sensitive microscopic hairs called microvilli (say: mye-kro-VILL-eye). Those tiny hairs send messages to the brain about how something tastes, so you know if it's sweet, sour, bitter, or salty. The average person has about 10,000 taste buds and they're replaced every 2 weeks or so. There you go, you learn something new every day!

12.01.2022 Important announcement regarding operational changes for Toothpaste Family Dentistry. Please Listen.

11.01.2022 URGENT INFORMATION: PLEASE READ. To our valued Toothpaste family, As healthcare professionals, we are committed to protecting the ongoing health of our patients and staff. ... In light of increasing COVID-19 cases and in alignment with recommendation from the Australian Dental Association (ADA), it is with a heavy heart that we advise you of a significant change to our operations until further notice. Effective immediately, we will only be scheduling dental emergency and pain appointments as outlined by the ADA. Since early dental intervention plays an integral role in easing the burden on the healthcare system, we encourage you to utilise our services to ensure hospitals are not dealing with cases that can be addressed out of the system. We will be offering these dental emergency and pain appointments to both new and existing patients and cases will be treated on a triage basis. We will still be taking calls via our practice phone number, however, we greatly appreciate your patience if we are unable to answer or return your calls as quickly as we usually would. You can also continue to reach us via email [email protected] We want to assure you that the high levels of infection control we’ve always maintained will be continued alongside specific measures that will prevent possible transmission within our practice. Patients will also be screened about their current health to further protect other patients and staff. It is our hope that we can return to our usual operation in the near future and will continue to provide updates regarding COVID-19 operational changes as well as dental hygiene tips via our social media channels. We’ll also be updating our website www.toothpastegc.com with any operational updates. We greatly appreciate your continued understanding and support. We wish you and your family a safe and healthy transition through these unprecedented times.

05.01.2022 What does your tube of Toothpaste say about YOUR personality? We are all quirky and different in our own ways, even when it comes to our oral hygiene! So let’s talk toothpaste; more specifically, how we squeeze our toothpaste out. We’ve heard a number of ways touted as the correct way to squeeze a toothpaste tube. It’s especially fun to hear a child’s take on how to properly squeeze out toothpaste. Does the way a person squeezes a toothpaste tube say anything about their p...ersonality? Here are some of the most common methods and possible connections we’ve come across. 1. - From the Bottom Do you start from the bottom of the tube? Do you roll or fold all of the excess paste up as you go, making sure to leave none behind? If so, you might be the perfectionist who avoids waste. You want the world to know that you are reliable, dedicated, and hardworking. You are a very thrifty, caring, and tidy person. 2.- From Somewhere in the Middle Do you give a gentle squeeze in the middle of your tube of toothpaste, not really thinking of where you need to be squeezing from? When you start running out, you just find the next spot that is full to squeeze from. If so, you might be the realist that doesn’t fuss about the little things and instead focuses on the big picture. You are a very logical and balanced person. You strive to see the world without bias clouding your view. 3.- Anywhere Possible Do you squeeze the tube from anywhere, with your entire hand, regardless of the mess you are about to make? There’s probably even some leftover toothpaste outside of the tube, huh? You may even regularly leave the cap off. If so, you might be the surrealist. You have the ability to view the world much differently than others, through colors, contours, and music. You can find beauty in unlikely places. You may be untidy and often late, but creativity and artistry come very easily for you. Which one are you? How do YOU squeeze your toothpaste out? We like any method, as long as you’re using it with a soft-bristled toothbrush twice a day for two minutes each time! Speaking of oral hygiene, when was the last time you had a professional dental cleaning and checkup? Contact Toothpaste Family Dentistry to schedule your next appointment today.
