11.01.2022 TOOTS billy ruth poetry Well toots she was a truckie and hauled the Queensland run, a tough one with a heart of gold... and loved by everyone. Yeah toots she did the hard yards In the outback heat, the slush and mud, she wasn’t afraid of the shovel would have shed some sweat and blood. She’d run right up to Weipa on the rugged cape York track, twas said she opened it up for trucks sure would have been tough way back. Toots kept her old rig running, she was mechanic, mother and wife A pioneer of road transport, and loved the Cape York truckies life. She’s a part of Australia’s heritage, that heritage we have to hold along with Slim she lives forever when she was born they broke the mould. R.I.P
