24.01.2022 We received the wonderful news this week that Emma (OT) has been awarded a professional certificate in the DIR Floortime approach. This 12 month training process has involved approximately 100 hours of online training videos and mentoring, alongside special education and therapy professionals from around the world. Thank you again to the beautiful families who took part in this process, generously allowing us to share their child's therapy journey with the study group, and le...arn from their family's experience of Floortime. What is DIR Floortime? It's an approach to supporting children and adults with alternate learning styles and/or developmental needs. It's an assessment and intervention approach which considers each person and their family as unique, with their own developmental profile, interests and goals. The model emphasises the importance of learning in a way that is respectful, meaningful and through positive relationship with others - parents, family, siblings, friends, carers and teachers. DIR Floortime is just one of the many therapy approaches that guides our practice at Toot Toot OT.
