24.01.2022 In these mad times we all need something to make us smile, so here's some awesome news, Keeley Rigby ( club member and trialer) on the 10th of July she and her husband welcomed a beautiful baby boy, welcome to this crazy world Ace David Rigby

23.01.2022 Can anyone guess whose birthday it's today, a clue from the picture, Xander and Chilli not happy though Cayden seems happy

20.01.2022 You may be aware of the new COVID restrictions that have come into effect as of today. According to the Queensland Government website this excludes businesses and events operating under a approved COVID safe plan. This will be monitored and I will inform you if things change. At this time the new restrictions do not effect our club training..

20.01.2022 I would just like to give my class 1 a huge high five, I could see everyone had been training during the week. All dogs showed big improvements and all the distractions are not a big deal to the dogs. Hope those people I get to have a little chat to one on one before class starts helps in your day to day life. I enjoy hearing about any issues you might have hopefully imparting some wisdom in the process. Remember everyone have fun while you train. Next week Chill is going to show off another trick, holding food without eating it. Darlene

19.01.2022 What a night, tonight we had more handlers attend than we have seen in a long time. It was great to see everyone getting involved and hopefully enjoying the classes. I have not seen so many in Class 3 for many years. We once had to class 3's but tonight this was the first time in a very long time that we had to have 2 class 3's. Unfortunately we are very low on instructors and we cannot maintain that many classes long term. If anyone would like to become an instructor we would be happy to have you. We will provide you with your training and from time to time the club also pays for its instructors to attend lectures/seminars. On another note please pay attention to the COVID rules and maintain social distancing so that we can all remain safe and open for training.

19.01.2022 I would like to thank all those who have donated goods for our Xmas raffle. It will be drawn after class on the 24 November at 7:15pm

19.01.2022 The Club is holding its Christmas hamper raffle which will be drawn on the last Tuesday of November. Any donations of a non perishable item suitable for hampers would be greatly appreciated. Tickets are $1 each and available from Lyn on Tuesday nights. Money raised will go back into the club to assist in funding various projects we have in the works. Most of you would have noticed the earth works near the units, this was to be a storage shed for our equipment but it is now being located closer to the club house and hope it to be finished by the end of the year.

17.01.2022 It was great to see so many people back at club training tonight. Thank you all for understanding the need to to implement the new COVID rules and for following them. I hope you all enjoyed yourself and that it the new rules didn't adversely effect your night. Welcome back.

16.01.2022 Just 1 of our club dogs Xander and his dad Gary Tierney, 2013 Rally was just taking off and the 1st time at the EKKA, both did an amazing job, Xander is now almost 12, we miss those days but we are really enjoying having an old boy who now enjoys laying on the lounge and getting lots of cuddles.

16.01.2022 For a dog that at 1 year old this would have been impossible, Cayden is almost 5 and has so much trust in us now. It has taken years to get to this point and that has to do with the people that have helped and guided us in his training, he will always have aggressive tendencies but we know how to help him through these issues, he is not everyone's perfect dog but he is ours and we love him to death So remember that you ALL have the best dog, training can be a long hard road but very rewarding and you will develop a strong bond with each other, keep it up guys. From your chief instructor Darlene

15.01.2022 WOW WOW WOW what a great day yesterday, while walking the babies we came across our worst fears, another dog. A blue cattle dog came out from her place, we had no where to go. Unfortunately the property is in the act of fencing so at this stage it is open. We all stopped and Gary told Cayden to sit, he did , while I had Xan and Chill pulling me and for the first time Chilli started to bark. Lucky the homeowner was home and tried calling her back (to no avail) he came down ...the front and finally got her. Now while that was happening she was very slowly inching closer to Cayden, she sniffed him and even though he was in the sit he didn’t look tense, he was just watching her sniffing him, he did lower his head to have a little sniff over her back but that’s all. When the owner was close enough she finally followed him and to Gary’s credit he had food on hand to break focus from the dog back to him. I never in my wildest dreams thought this could happen, very happy with everything From your chief instructor Darlene See more

12.01.2022 The Club will be drawing our Christmas raffle on the Tuesday 24th on completion of training. If you are able to donate any non-perishable items for the hampers it will be greatly appreciated. Please hand any donations in to the club house by Tuesday the 17th. Also on the last Tuesday I believe Father Christmas will be there for a photo opportunity with your dogs.

11.01.2022 Wow what a first class we have this month, you guys are awesome. Remember to practice those left about and left about U turns, you were all doing great tonight, we are going to be moving heaps next week. Bring plenty of treats too. Have fun training and keep it short but multiple times during the day. Darlene

09.01.2022 Class 3 is awesome, I could see that everyone worked on those turns through out the week, it also looked like learning some new tricks was fun. Special note goes out to Hiccup who nailed the sit pretty. Thank you all for the work you are doing with your dogs. Have a great day everyone. Darlene

09.01.2022 Our class 1 is now booked out up to and including February. These classes have been extremely popular. We will not be taking any more bookings until January at which time bookings will be available for March classes.

08.01.2022 What a turn out last night, class 3 was HUGE. I was lucky enough to be able to rearrange classes and take half off poor Kevin. My class were awesome, I threw a few new things at most of you and you all did great. Those 270s were a bit confusing at first only because your brain dead instructor got it wrong herself . I was thrilled that everyone wanted a information sheet on what to practice . Remember keep training to short sessions multiple times a day and always end on a happy note. Darlene and Chilli

07.01.2022 A vet colleague of mine was presented with this German shepherd who swallowed his ball while playing fetch with the owner's grandson. The ball was blocking his trachea. Fortunately the hole in the ball gave him a little air, otherwise he would likely have died. The radiographs are pretty amazing! Remember to choose an appropriate sized ball and especially a ball on a rope is best for interactive playing. Thank you to Dr. KC Schreiber for the photos and for saving this guy!

07.01.2022 We will be having an instructors meeting on Tuesday 1st December for all instructors and anyone interested in becoming one. Same time as normal training 6.30 pm. Please remember our instructors are all volunteers and we would love to see new people join us in helping the public with their dogs. Darlene

04.01.2022 I am a Dobermann, cataloged one of the most intelligent and most feared dogs, I have served the US Navy and I will not narrate my dark past on the German side. They called me the devil's dog, today they ask me to behave like a Poodle, they have gone so far as to wear clothes ... I am a Malinois: Gifted among dogs, I shine in all disciplines and I am always ready to work. Today they ask me to relax on the couch all day....Continue reading

03.01.2022 Your Dog is Not a Baby! Todays culture is absolutely ruining dogs and as behaviourists we are seeing more and more preventable problems appearing not only at our facilities but in the public domain too! People are treating their dogs like children, and no matter how much you say it, or what you believe, they are not children. They are dogs... An apex predator with forty two teeth in their head and a bite pressure that can break bones. ... They deserve treating like dogs! Somehow treating your dog like a dog has become a taboo subject and its because of the warped, snowflake generation that's flooding the industry. Can't say no to a dog. Can't go in cold weather with a dog. Can't let a dog get muddy. Can't give a dog a job. Can't feed a dog raw meat. If your dog is in shape its too skinny. We are walking around in a world where giving your dog a job is cruel beyond belief but having a dog 30kg overweight with diabetes falling out of its ears is absolutely fine. It's warped and twisted and wrong. They are dogs! Treat them as dogs. You cannot take any pristine animal on this earth and pretend that it's a baby. Oh hello, this is my whale, he is my baby. It doesn't work like that, and if you respect the dog, it doesn't work with them either. We have to push back on this snowflake mentality because it is literally killing dogs. Dogs are dying every day purely because nobody told them what rules they were supposed to follow or because they weren't given a job they so desperately wanted. Let's start honouring our dogs for the absolutely amazing creatures they are. Dogs are magnificent, majestic, intelligent, robust. For me, they are the best animal on the planet so let's stop killing them and treat them for exactly what they are. Honour your dog. And yes all 3 of our dogs train in some sort of dog sport. Xander (Rottie) in his prime was an amazing Rally dog at the top in his class. Chilli (Golden) loved retrieving and Rally gaining Ch in that sport and even though she couldn’t put together a perfect UD run she always enjoyed it. Cayden (Malinois) excels in scenting. All dogs are light weight for their breeds something our vet loves

01.01.2022 Wow what a turn out for training last night. Great catching up with all the older members and welcoming all the new members to. It gets very busy on the 1st Tuesday of the month fitting collars and selling bags, leads and mats, I think we got into a rhythm and started to move quickly. I was only 1 minute late to take class. I could clearly see that even though the look down all dogs have made improvements, some handlers had trouble with their turns lol ... We all had some laughs and fun, keep up the good work Darlene See more
