12.01.2022 Had the Hilux just over six months, haven't done as many KMs as we planned due to covid restrictions but am very happy with economy and comfort so far. Can easily average 8L/100 or under on the highway and around 10-11 around town. Last ute was a trayback so it's a step down in load size but this one tows a trailer with seemingly less effort. Fit and finish from Toyota still seems a step above of other Thai built utes. Even though this ute does mainly short trips during the w...eek I haven't seen any dpf issues at all and haven't seen the clouds of smoke that some of the earlier ones complained of. The dealer fitted dash cam paid for itself after a car park incident at IKEA, where someone drove off after swiping the bull bar. Dash cam recorded his business name and phone number from his vehicle which meant we had the bar replaced with no excess. See more

11.01.2022 Further photos of a destroyed alloytec engine, it's always a surprise when you drain the oil and bits of piston rings come out with the oil. We found bits of piston and valves in the plenum/manifold. When we removed the left head which had broken rockers and valve springs we found the middle piston has disappeared totally and the cylinder head totally hammered. Big end bearing is still smooth, gudgeon pin moves freely, timing chains intact. The head is so damaged one of valve seats has come out. We have sent the injectors out to be tested and cleaned, partly because the tips on direct injection engines are in the combustion chamber and may be damaged and also to eliminate that one injector may have faulted and hydraulic locked the cylinder with the failed piston. 08.01.2022 We are back, I have been away helping a mate with harvesting for last 4 weeks. The harvest has finished here but now rolls on through northern NSW. The workshop is now open, give us a call, send a message or email and we will do what we can to help. Or you can drop in and see us.

07.01.2022 Toowoomba Engine Centre is having a extended break. From the 6th October till approx the middle of November we will be closed while we have a break away from the day to day of business. This last year has been particularly difficult for everyone including our customers, suppliers and staff and has prompted us to have a time out before Christmas. If you need to contact us, email is the preferred option as we will not always be in phone range, message via Facebook or lastly le...ave a message on the workshop number. We will be checking it periodically and will try to get back to any urgent matters as soon as possible. I will be able to check email daily so that is the best method of contact. Any urgent mechanical issues, I have arranged for Downs Auto Cure in Wylie St as our preferred choice of repairer while we are away.
