25.01.2022 If you are driving past or visiting the practice, you may notice our beautiful circle leadlight window has seen better days... We had a little 'excitement' over the weekend with our window taking a hit from a passer-by that thought breaking the window would be a little bit of fun. Over the coming weeks, we will be trying our best to restore our window to its former beauty. ... If anyone has any information, the incident happened at approximately 10.20pm on Friday 28th of August.

17.01.2022 COVID-19 UPDATE After careful consideration involving discussions with colleagues and Dental and Medical Specialists, Toowoomba Dental has decided to be proactive in our response to COVID-19 pandemic and will cease to see and treat patients as of today, Monday 23rd March 2020. This difficult decision was made in an effort to reduce the risk of the potential asymptomatic transmission of COVID-19 to our patients, our staff, families and the wider community. We felt that ...we needed to move more urgently than our professional bodies advice to protect our local community. As clinicians, we must learn from overseas experience and those who were in a similar position to us right now when they had a small number of confirmed cases of COVID-19. We have decided not to be emotive or over-react, but rather be proactive by ceasing patient contact. Toowoomba Dental will still have staff present to answer phone calls in case of a dental emergency. Our Dental Surgeons will be on call during this time. In the meantime, we are rescheduling all routine examinations and non-urgent treatment with patients booked up to and including Thursday 2nd April 2020. We will be reviewing the COVID-19 pandemic next Wednesday 1st April 2020 and will communicate with you further that day regarding Toowoomba Dental’s operational status. We apologise for any inconvenience, however, our patient, staff and family safety is of our utmost concern in this highly volatile and uncertain time in the world.

14.01.2022 Confused about choosing the right teeth whitening treatment? One of the most common questions we receive is what the differences are between our take-home whitening kits verse in-office whitening. ------------ For anyone deciding between these options, here's a couple of questions to contemplate to help make your choice easier.... How fast will you get the results you want? How sensitive are your teeth currently? Are you good with a routine that may last 2-4 weeks? Is cost a major deciding factor? By considering these questions, this will help narrow down your choice of which teeth whitening treatment is more suited to your personal needs. But if it hasn't, ask your dentist for more information.

09.01.2022 TEMPORARY CLOSURE UPDATE After a meeting between all dentists, Toowoomba Dental has decided to remain temporarily closed. This difficult decision is based on published recommendations by the Australian Health Protection Principal Committee (AHPPC). 06.01.2022 What colour are healthy teeth supposed to be? The most common answer is white, but in reality, it's more like '50 shades of white'. There are four primary shade groups (sorted into A, B, C and D) that our teeth commonly fall into; reddish-brown, reddish-yellow, grey, and reddish-grey. Each of these categories has up to 4 lightness shades 1, 2, 3 & 4 with number 1 being the lightest. It's these variations of tooth shades that make up a 'shade guide' which our dentist...s use to match your tooth colour. When you want to achieve 'whiter teeth', the shade guide is used to give you an idea of how 'white' your teeth will be after tooth whitening. Most patients want a shade of B1; yet, if your tooth shade is in the categories of A, C or D, they will remain in that category but can be lightened up to how many shades lighter you desire. At your next visit if you are interested in knowing your current tooth colour shade, ask your dentist and see how light your teeth could possibly go with teeth whitening. . . . . 03.01.2022 . An Orthopantomogram (or as we refer to it an OPG), plays an extremely crucial role in the diagnosis and management of countless dental conditions (for example TMJ issues). It allows our dentists to see a panoramic view of all the teeth of the upper and lower jaw. It can show a wide view of all your teeth (including unerupted ones like wisdom teeth), unlike bitewings that only show a closeup image of a select few teeth.

01.01.2022 Patient Confession Time - What would you fix about your smile if you could? We recently had a patient visit and this was her confession: Every time I finish brushing my teeth, I can’t help but stare at my badly chipped and stained teeth and wish I could fix it... I don’t smile with my teeth if I can help it because it makes me feel so self conscious... We are grateful when our patients are brave enough to share their feelings and goals with us so we can help them reclaim their smile they may have lost through our personalised smile makeovers. Also, we are extremely happy to report this patient found her smile again.

01.01.2022 - This week, we focus on Cuspids. Which are one of our most recognisable teeth due to their pointed nature. More commonly know as our canine teeth. Interestingly, your Cuspids have the longest root in the mouth.
