25.01.2022 QJC FEMALE PATHWAY AND STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS UPDATE. Due to the Covid-19 Pandemic the following is important interim information in regards to the 2020/21 QJC U13 & U15 carnivals and the U15 QJC Talent Academy. Queensland cricket have recently advised the DDSWQ Executive and Junior Directors of Coaching of a number of changes to the 2020/21 QJC season. Firstly and most disappointing is the U13 Female State Challenge that was planned for Jan 2021 has been cancelled. The U15 Fe...male State Championships will still be held in early Dec 2020, however a number of changes to the selection and format of the lead up games is currently under review. This will see a number of training days for DDSWQ U15 players in Toowoomba on a Sunday, followed by a selection of a 12 player team that will then play against MSW, Ipswich and Gold Coast teams on Sundays in early September. These games will then assist the selectors (DDSWQ JDOC, MSW JDOC and QC Representative) in announcing the Western Swelter Team to play in the State Championships in Brisbane in Dec. Regional JDOCs have been tasked with providing U13 squads with training throughout the season and a possible inclusion in an U13 Female division in the Les Kinnane Cup in early Jan 2021. This is still in the early planning stages and I am leading the charge in getting these sides together for a 5 day multi format competition in a great carnival. I have been associated with teams going to the Les Kinnane cup for the past 8 years. Invitations for U15 players to attend the training squad days in Aug / Sep will be out in the coming days. The QLD Cricket U15 Female Talent academy squad was selected and named a few weeks ago, however due to Covid-19, a QC restructure and lack of funding both the male and female squads have been cancelled also. The 4 selected U15 players have now been advised by QC, however I would like to congratulate Tahlia Hess and Olivia Clark for their inclusions in the squad. They were joined in the squad by Miles Teenager Bree Craven and Warrick Left Arm Spinner Laura Scheiwe. Selection of these squads is based on QJC performances, QSS and Club performances, as well as involvement in QC Premier cricket and Paul Pink shield. The program is designed to assist talent ID in the region to prepare for U15 QJC season. So there is a bit to take in here, and its disappointing that some formats have been cancelled for the season. 22.01.2022 The Murdoch Lawyers DDBBL juggernaut is fast becoming one of the most recognisable sporting events in Toowoomba . As such, we are looking for volunteers to hel...p with some setting up & taking down at each ground for all DDBBL games. Its light work which involves putting up a couple of small marquees, tables & chairs, boundary markers & signs. We will also need some help to fix markers & signs during the matches when required. Many hands with make light work of these tasks your support is greatly appreciated . If you are available to help out for any of these games please contact Rick Wood on 0438 345 452. 09.01.2022 JUNIOR STATE TITLES - CRICKET Calling all Junior Cricketers aged 8 to 16! We want you! Register your team or join one of our many teams!! Toowoomba is hosting the 2020 Junior State Carnival - a weekend of junior cricket fun!... Grades played are 10s, 12s, 14s and 16s. It's a great chance to come and play a weekend of cricket fun! This event is played over the school holidays - Fri 25th, Sat 26th & Sun 27th September. The kids will play roughly 7/8 games over the weekend against teams from all over Queensland. This event is also the official development pathway for junior indoor cricket and squads are chosen for the 2021 Development Camp - where Qld teams are selected for the 2021 Junior Cricket National! 07.01.2022 The junior cricket season commences on Sat 10th October and will break for Christmas holidays with final game held Sat 5th December. The first two Saturdays will be grading/training matches and will not contribute to ladders. Players may be mixed with other clubs if available numbers are low.
