23.01.2022 How amazing do these new sleepover ottomans in the Paediatric Unit look!? Last year we funded the purchase of 18 ottomans for the Toowoomba Hospital Women's and Children's services so that parents like Sarah, with baby Layla, can stay at the side of their sick children or partners can be with expecting mothers in maternity These ottomans are designed as a bed, sofa and chaise lounge that can be easily moved around and have secure storage for blankets and personal possessions. It's such a joy for us to be able to provide these little measures of comfort for those who need to stay close to their loved ones while visiting our hospital

23.01.2022 Recently we had the pleasure of visiting Clifford Park Special School for a lovely presentation and tour of their school. A big thank you to the senior students who earlier in the year arranged a Superhero Day to recognise and raise funds for the incredible work of their health heroes at Darling Downs Health The students raised a wonderful $500 which they've generously donated towards our Toowoomba Hospital Christmas Appeal in support of the Theatre Department

16.01.2022 We have been absolutely blown away by the generosity that just keeps on coming from our Suncorp and RACQ Great Western Road Trip! We're very excited to announce that through their Suncorp Brighter Futures program, Suncorp dollar matched the fundraising efforts and volunteer time given by their staff - adding an extra $23,000 to the final tally! Meaning our first ever road trip raised a phenomenal $80,000 for rural mental health!

14.01.2022 Thank you to the Lions Club of Westbrook and Districts for donating 150 trauma teddy bears to the Foundation These teddies have been delivered to the Toowoomba Hospital Paediatrics Unit to be gifted to children spending time in hospital over the festive period as well as give our littlest of patients a boost of bravery when going into surgery. 14.01.2022 Earlier this year we helped the Darling Downs Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Hearing Health Service purchase new equipment for their community program The Indigenous Health Team provide this free service to children aged from infancy to four years old to the community as well as special clinical visits to Kulila Indigenous Kindergarten in Toowoomba. This invaluable service enables Darling Downs Health to identify and help treat ear infections in vulnerable children and teens before long-term hearing problems occur. Such a great program, which we're proud to have funded equipment for!

14.01.2022 Well many of us thought we'd never get there, but Christmas and 2021 is just round the corner! We've had a wonderful November fundraising for Darling Downs Health and are very grateful for all our mates who hosted events and fundraisers supporting numerous areas of the health service. With Christmas less than a month away we have plenty of opportunities for our community to give back this festive season from the Loads of Love Appeal, Ray White Toowoomba 'A Litte Ray of Giving' toy drive and our Toowoomba Hospital Christmas Appeal, we would love your support Check out our video below for a sneak peek of what we got up to in the past month as well as what's coming up.

12.01.2022 Earlier this year with thanks from a grant we received from Inland Rail we were able to purchase 20 Baby Care Packs with all the essentials a new mum needs for the Darling Downs Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Bridging Antenatal Care Indigenous Babies and Smoking Cessation (BAIBS) program Just last month the team from the Darling Downs Health Indigenous Health Team gifted their first two packs to two new mums who gave birth in Toowoomba and Kingaroy. We're told that the two bubs are doing well and that the midwives went above and beyond in their support. A big thank you to Inland Rail for helping us fund these packs for new mums going through the BAIBS program and helping us support the great work of the Indigenous Health Team

11.01.2022 These little devices may look small but they make a mighty difference to some of our patients in the Cancer Care Unit. Called an electrolarynx, these act as speech aids for patients who've unfortunately had to have their voice box removed due to cancer. We recently helped Speech Pathologist Monique by purchasing three different devices so she can help give her patients the gift of speech again These devices can also be loaned out to patients in our community so they're able to continue communicating with their friends, family and loved ones while they wait for their own speech aid to arrive. Thanks Monique for giving us this opportunity to give such a precious gift to your patients
