24.01.2022 Your baby’s sex is determined by the sperm. All eggs carry a female chromosome, while sperm can carry either a male or female chromosome. The race is on to see which of the 100,000 or so sperm will fertilise the egg. #toowoombaobstetricsandgynaecology #toag

23.01.2022 FACT or FICTION Chocolate makes you happy This is FACT ... Chocolate contains numerous ingredients, chemicals and compounds that have been shown to affect the brain and body in a myriad of pleasurable and positive ways. The small amounts of each individual chemical in chocolate may not have profound effects on the brain, the combination of them all packaged together in a handy bar, is a winning combination to produce happy feelings in the eater. #toag #obgyn #pregnancyfactorfiction #factorfiction #fertility #ineresting #facts #fiction #education #pregnancy #toowoomba #darlingdowns #darlingdownsfamilies #thankyou #toowoombabusiness

17.01.2022 A newborn’s stomach is about the size of a hazelnut. That’s why feeding is so frequent in the early days it can’t hold much! Don’t worry, they grow quickly. #toowoombaobstetricsandgynaecology #toag

16.01.2022 IMPORTANT COVID VACCINE INFORMATION This statement has been issued by RANZCOG (The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists) and ATAGI (Australian Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation) as a joint statement, released simultaneously, to minimise confusion, aid clarity in messaging and assist with building vaccine confidence among women planning pregnancy, who are pregnant or who are breastfeeding. RANZCOG and ATAGI recommend that pregnan...t women are routinely offered Pfizer mRNA vaccine (Cominarty) at any stage of pregnancy. This is because the risk of severe outcomes from COVID-19 is significantly higher for pregnant women and their unborn baby. Global surveillance data from large numbers of pregnant women have not identified any significant safety concerns with mRNA COVID-19 vaccines given at any stage of pregnancy. Furthermore, there is also evidence of antibody in cord blood and breastmilk, which may offer protection to infants through passive immunity. Pregnant women are encouraged to discuss the decision in relation to timing of vaccination with their health professional. Women who are trying to become pregnant do not need to delay vaccination or avoid becoming pregnant after vaccination. #toag #obgyn #toowoomba #darlingdowns #covid19 #covid #covidvaccine #pregnancy #ranzcog #atagi #vaccine #vaccination #pregnant

12.01.2022 Clothes not fitting the way they used to? At just 6 weeks, your uterus has already expanded. If we go by fruit comparisons, it has grown from a plum to an apple. #toowoombaobstetricsandgynaecology #toag

10.01.2022 FACT or FICTION Standing on your head, or putting your legs up after intercourse increases your chance of pregnancy Busted, it is in fact FICTION... There is no evidence that either standing on your head, or elevating your legs for an extended period of time after intercourse will improve your chances of getting pregnant #toag #obgyn #pregnancyfactorfiction #factorfiction #fertility #ineresting #facts #fiction #education #pregnancy #toowoomba #darlingdowns #darlingdownsfamilies #thankyou #toowoombabusiness
