18.01.2022 It was a pleasure to welcome special guest John Fitzgerald to the club today. This afternoon about 50 juniors listened to Fitzy speak for a few minutes. The kids then took to the courts to hit some balls, with the ex-Davis Cup captain watching on. Later he visited the Darling Downs Museum of Tennis. The photo shows him holding a Slazenger Challenge model racquet that he said he used as a youngster. Fitzy also recalled playing at the Association on at least one occasion in the late 1970s. Of course he is in Toowoomba for the launch of the 2016 Hutchinson Builders Toowoomba International.

That all changed last week when he got a call up to play in the Australian men 55s team after another player had to pull out.... 03.01.2022 It was all looking so good earlier in the week blue skies and clear days. But yesterday morning the weather turned on our two-day Junior Development Series tournament. Play got under way about 30 minutes late, but then was suspended soon after 10am with rain falling.... Matches never resumed and this morning, with no prospect of the courts drying in time to allow even a reduced schedule to be completed by this evening, the tournament was abandoned. Well try again next year!
