25.01.2022 "Solar powering schools equals more beers at the pub: nana activist" SEPTEMBER 5, 2020 LEANNE BRUMMELL is a mum on a mission. A real-life parent fighting for pl...anet A, she’s trying to whip up support in southwestern shires for an open letter asking prime minister Scott Morrison to fund solar panels and batteries for every Australian school, kindergarten and childcare centre. The Solar our Schools (SOS) initiative would see the creation of at least 7000 jobs across Australia at a time when we need jobs post-COVID19, Leanne said. We’d also reduce pollution and, importantly, enable huge costs savings for schools and childcares, meaning more money for badly-needed facilities and resources. She said for Balonne shire, which had seven schools, Solar Our Schools would bring local employment for renewable energy technicians during the install and ongoing maintenance. And, for every new job, that means more beers bought from the pub, Leanne said. She is one of five mums who co-founded the nationwide group Australian Parents for Climate Action. Leanne said there were now more than 8000 parent members and 30 local action groups spread across the nation. It’s great to be able to make a difference from wherever you are, even if it’s a regional area, she said. Leanne is also a member of Knitting Nannas Against Gas, who pride themselves on being a peaceful group protesting against the destruction of land and water by unconventional gas and other non-renewable energy sources. She knits in the main street in St George and at events such as the races and the show. I know this kind of craftivism isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, Leanne said. Australian Parents for Climate Action is a wonderful way for ordinary mums and dads to get involved in protecting the planet. It’s not just for city folk. We have groups in towns including Tamworth, Wagga Wagga and as far away as Perth. - As featured in South West Newspaper, QLD Australia To sign the open letter and get more solar for schools and more beers at the pub go to www.ap4ca.org/solarourschools

20.01.2022 Have you seen our HUGE announcement this morning? The Greens have announced our plan for free breakfast and lunch for every Queensland kid. Across Queensland 2...0% of Queensland kids go to school without having breakfast, almost 200,000 go to school without lunch. When mining billionaires are making record profits, why should any kid go hungry? See more

19.01.2022 YES. Make it FREE. And make billionaire mining companies pay up, not students: https://greens.org.au/qld/fairshare

03.01.2022 Make sure you DON'T Vote 1 Greens. Those radicals want a Queensland that works for everyday people not billionaires and politicians.

02.01.2022 Do you know who said this about the New Acland Coal Mine??

02.01.2022 School is back tomorrow. I'm sure many parents are looking forward to it, some quiet in the house at last! However, I know many parents aren't looking forward t...o the ridiculous fees charged by our *cough* "free" public state schools. I'm 20 years old, so I remember going through school and watching my Mum struggle to pay the yearly fees, and buying the overpriced textbooks, and paying for the technology, and the uniforms and on and on and on it went. It was a huge strain in our family, and it seemed like the fees just got higher and higher every term. We want to end this assault on parents and deliver true, free public schooling for every Queensland child. We will abolish all school fees and fully fund our state schools to ensure no child is left behind just because their parents can't pay.

02.01.2022 The Morrison government routinely cover up corruption and their shady dealings. This is why The Greens support an Independent Commission Against Corruption, the legislation has been sitting on Scott's desk for months. I wonder why he won't let it come for a vote
