09.01.2022 This week a customer shared with me what I consider to be a disturbing recruitment practice. A premier retailer had advertised for an Office Administrator. Well prepared with the new resume and cover letter I had created for her, my customer applied online, filled out the application form which requested various personal information. The application didnt request a resume or cover letter; only tick the boxes for what type of role you would like to be considered for, nothi...ng specific to the position advertised. The application concluded with a box which you could select being would you like to receive future marketing materials. My thoughts are to be aware of what could be a marketing exercise as opposed to an employment application process . . . your personal details are valuable to you and need to be protected from possible misuse or unauthorised use.

07.01.2022 Last week I received a service enquiry from a young woman intending to move to the Gold Coast from New Zealand later this year. On responding to her enquiry this was the email I received in return: Thank you for your prompt reply. I have emailed many resume specialists throughout the Gold Coast and feel confident that I have picked the right company and person with you.
