22.01.2022 We've been fighting about wild horse round ups and eradication in America for decades Horses were here before people, once man showed up they were hunted to ext...inction until 16th century when they reintroduced from Europe by the Spanish. What a difference their return has made. Horses virtually transformed the lives of generations of both native Americans, immigrants and settlers. I think they've earned the right to exist. Horses are a symbol and an inspiration to just about anyone who looks with seeing eyes . A bond earned and shared with a horse is a physical and spiritual connection between us and an animal who will always be Wild at heart. Riding is as close as we humans get to flying without mechanical devices. Not everyone gets the opportunity to interact directly with a horse, it is and should be a huge commitment. But knowing they are there for anyone to be see and enjoy in wild life preserves and national parks as a living symbol of freedom is no small thing and worth a little effort. I love the American Bald Eagle as our national symbol but the Horse is a symbol I can touch and revel in the sheer joy a running equine exhibits for us all to see resonates very deeply with me and many, many others.
