16.01.2022 Got some slabbed pennies I'm looking for a quick sale on, so I check out Ebay prices. Let's call this one today's turkey... it ain't an error. If you want to learn about errors, I recommend Mark and Kathryn's blog - https://www.australian-coins.com/error-coins/

14.01.2022 Another rarity (in this grade) about to be listed on Top End Coins - it's an 1899 Melbourne half sovereign. AU58 - equal finest with one other. This example comes from the Ezen Collection. From a mintage of 90,000. It's telling of the scarcity of this date that there are presently no UNC coins available authenticated and graded. www.topendcoins.com.au

12.01.2022 Just as the sea withdraws before the next wave comes crashing ashore, the market has chosen to sell off heading into summer vacation. The reason appears to be that the Fed has finally acknowledged that handing out free money is not helping the real economy. A couple of pertinent charts found - US jobs (nonfarm payrolls) against retail sales and the market value of big tech. The poor are getting poorer while the rich cash in and take a break. Unless the Dow Jones drops and stays below 29K, I'll be waiting for the next wave coming crashing ashore, breaking new highs. In the meantime, I'm going to continue enjoying the wonderful weather up here in the Territory. Cheers, Les

07.01.2022 Having seen a pre-auction bid on a type II partially prepared proof die labelled Ch UNC/GEM already at $1600 (add 22% assuming the coin doesn't get bid higher in live bidding), I'm raising my prices. This MS63 graded and authenticated example with an unusual matt satin reverse was listed at $1750. However, I can't tell if the raw coin in the online auction photos is damaged or not - never would I pay for such an item without being certain of its ability to grade with PCGS!! If you'd like to understand more about the Centenary florins, see Top End Coin's library - look for the author David Briggs: https://topendcoins.com.au//top-end-coins-library-of-esse/

07.01.2022 And they're gone. Along with the 1870 Sydney Mint in MS62, this example below selling for almost $4000 is a sure fire sign that the market for collectables is moving from strength to strength in this country. www.topendcoins.com.au
