21.01.2022 POST BATHURST UPDATE AND RESULTS Mount panorama has treated us kindly this year, having completed all races compared to last seasons race 1 disaster! PRACTICE... : We rolled the car out on Thursday and we were on pace finishing the session in position 4 ! The second practice session saw some setup changes that were a bit ambitious and didn't seem to work, but we still managed to salvage p9 with the fastest last sector ! QUALIFYING was very interesting, as some fuel calculations did not add up, ultimately causing the car to fuel surge on the lap I was half a second up on my previous best Rolling into the pits 2 minutes early with no fuel saw us drop from 7th to 11th. RACE 1 I got away slowly with plenty of wheel spin, lost 3 positions, only to gain them back and edge into the top 10 ! RACE 2 I got away cleanly off the line and somehow managed to jump from 10th to 6th out of turn one only marginally missing a monster crash behind me ! The race resumed after 2 laps behind the safety car. I retained position 6 off the restart and also posted the fastest lap of the race so far before I lost all acceleration across the top of the mountain, gut wrenchingly dropping to the rear of the field . Emotions were high as the podium was so near and something so little managed to ruin our race. RACE 3 saw us starting from the rear of the field, completely missing the start, dropping to last place. From there I began to pluck away, managing to make it from 34th to 15th in 4 Racing laps ! The car crossed the line straight and fast all in all ending a half decent run at the mountain! A huge thanks goes out to my dad for making this possible, Liam from Eurocar Garage for turning the spanners and making the car very competitive! Also Nathan Tigani for helping out where he could throughout the weekend, and also Joe and Nick Zanotto for jumping on board as pit crew for the weekend ! I could go on thanking many more individuals and groups, I feel extremely privileged to have achieved these results for all who have helped make it possible for me to drive ! 12.01.2022 ***IAFOLLA JOINS SIEDERS RACING TEAM*** John Iafolla has joined Sieders Racing Team for the 2019 Toyota 86 Racing Series. After a competitive 2018 John has sinc...e been talking closely with Sieders Racing Team and will now become a recruit to the team. John’s plans regarding racing this season were up in the air as he will be beginning university and focusing his efforts towards study. This opportunity could not have come at a better time! Having previously ran the car between dad and I at home, it was always extremely time consuming and required an extreme amount of work behind the scenes, away from the racing weekends, let alone the actual race weekends! Having the opportunity to join Sieders Racing Team has off loaded that pressure and allowed me to get my head into university and study, as well as still being able to race! It will of course still be a very busy year, but I am motivated and confident this is the right step towards progressing to the top end within the series stated John. Joining a competitive team was something that had been on Iafolla’s mind for a while also. As well as allowing me to study and race, joining Sieders Racing Team is something I’d wanted to do for a while. The team will be able to get the best out of the car as well as myself and it really excites me for the upcoming season!. The search for sponsorship is also still very at hand with John looking to secure major sponsorship before the first round commences in April!
