24.01.2022 Frost fan is running (turn your sound on), it started at 3:30am this morning with the temp at 1.6degC. I lit one of our piles of timber to hopefully help a little. We also put 1.5hrs of irrigation on the vines yesterday afternoon to lift the soil temperature a little - not much else we can do! Same again for tonight - another 1.5hrs of irrigation today, light more pires tonight when the frost fan starts. We’ve just spread 250t of compost cattle manure mulch & woodchips from @rangersvalley feedlot (no antibiotics) so we don’t have to rely on soluble fertilisers thru the dripline. 10.01.2022 Dodging a #frost bullet by the skin of our teeth - 0600hrs Sun 27th Oct, -2.5degC at ground with frost over all the vineyard floor & +0.7degC at cordon height - thankfully no damage to the green shoots! Our frost fan ran for 3hrs in the early hours of Sat morn & 5hrs on the Sun morn - first time the fan has started automatically since it was installed in 2012. We also had 2 big piles of logs burning from 1am they burnt for 2days! Look at that beautiful, even #budburst -... those buds were breathing a sigh of relief! 10.01.2022 Replanting job at Topper’s Mountain vineyard goes on in 2020! Another chance to adopt a baby vine! . In February 2019, devastating bushfires stormed The Topper’s Mountain vineyard. The replanting job begun in December 2019 but once again nature wasn´t on our side. Precipitation in the last six months of 2019 was 80% below long-term average which means new baby vines had extremely hard conditions from the start.
