25.01.2022 Had a great insight today. Ask yourself this: is what you offer something want to buy, or something you have to sell? Think about it...

23.01.2022 Important changes to AdWords platform! In brief, Google have announced that the old format of up to 3 ads at the top of the search results page and up to 7 down the right hand side has changed. the program will be changed to serve up to 4 ads at the top of the page with up to 3 more at the bottom.... This makes it even more important to be in the top 4 spots for desktop search. Up to 3 ads will be served on mobile devices so a top 3 spot is vital. If you're an AdWords client of mine, I'm already across this with your account and will call you if budget or bid adjustment is necessary. Anyone reading can feel welcome to contact me with questions or if you need help with this.

23.01.2022 Debra Yuille celebrating recent completion of Google Partners Sales Masterclass in Brisbane.

21.01.2022 Did a webinar for my friend Tracey Tracey McLeod who is a home staging expert (thanks Tracey). Although this is framed around the topic of home staging, the principles are universal. Enjoy!

21.01.2022 Starting pretty much now, South East Queensland and particularly the Gold Coast will be thrown in a level of chaos never before seen with the Commonwealth Games events. If your business is in SEQ, you, or your competitors, will make the decision to stop advertising during that period. One of you will make the wrong decision.... Don't let it be you. Ask me privately what you should do, and why.

21.01.2022 Have you ever wondered what your customers want and expect from your website? This article is well worth the read... http://searchengineland.com/different-consumer-groups-reall

21.01.2022 I love it when clients call me to discuss what's new in their business and how to promote and monetise it. Matt Giffen called me just now, he has Giffen Removals. he mentioned that he's picking up a new truck in Melbourne this weekend and driving it back to Brisbane. "Why don't I advertise to see if we can get you a backload?"... "Let's do it"

20.01.2022 Observation: Australia is a very small market on the global stage. Overall we're very cynical and mistrusting. So, given all that, why do so may people still think thats elling is a numbers game and that pressure selling works? I know many of you will say, "I don't do that" and if so, why do you subscribe to those who push sales funnels and try to close people? Don't let me have to name and shame people!... The fact of the matter is that when you do those things, you burn more people than you convert. Nobody likes to be sold, they like to buy though.

19.01.2022 Analysing a new campaign with the client this afternoon. Previous stats from their previous campaign showed 0.69% click through rate, my new campaign is first week shows 5.52%, an 800% improvement. Very happy!

18.01.2022 Spent Thursday and Friday at Google Masterclass in Brisbane. Learned some cool new tricks to get more clicks and Debra got qualified. We are qualified Google Partners and Top Sales International is a Qualified Business; we now have just over $2m annual click spend under management and generate many more times that in business for our clients. Looking to increase that in 2017 to $3m. Bring it on!

17.01.2022 Have just developed a new AdWords Campaign "health check" product. Based on a 30-point checklist it shows you in tables and graphs where your campaign could be improved. if you're not already a client, let me know if you're interested in having me run it over your campaign; introductory fee is only $295, will be $550 after Oct 1.

15.01.2022 I seriously believe web design is going backwards not forwards. So may "Would be" expert designers making simple mistakes their clients aren't even aware of. Here are four I've seen today, and I see them almost every day: 1. Logo in pale pastel colours with tagline so small it was ilegible. ... Learning experience fromt his: Use strong, bold colours with authority not wishy-washy water colours. 2. Phone number in header so small you can't read it. Learning experience: If you have a phone number in your header it should be large enough to be read and at the top right of the page. 3. Menus written in italic ALL CAPS. Learning experience: ALL CAPS are harder to read than Title Case and italics even harder. 4. Clickable email links. These are absolute SPAM magnets. Leaning experience: Instead of a clickable link that opens an email client, have a link to the Contact page where there is a form to complete. Sadly everyone thinks just because they can install and edit a WordPress theme, they are a web developer. The cause of this problem? Most people have no idea how to brief a web designer, or even how to qualify them to see if they know what they're doing. Some graphic designers can work in both print and web media. Most can't. If you want honest feedback about your website, ask me. Better still, talk with me before you build your next website!

14.01.2022 We have sold our website development and hosting business. Our focus from now is on Search Engine Marketing using AdWords, copywriting, training and consultancy.

14.01.2022 Do you get SPAM emails? If you do, look at your website and see if there are open email links on the home page or contact form. An open email link is one you click and it launches your email suite; Outlook, gmail etc. An open email address is easily trawled by spammers who will first check the address to see if it bounces, and if doesnt, they will sell your address to others who will bombard you with emails selling stuff you dont want and/ or emails with viruses attached.... No developer should allow a client to have an open email address on a website and if yours has one, get back to the developer and have them edit it to be a link to your contact form, or to replace it with a non-clickable graphic. You should also consider deleting the open address as well as by now it will be on dozens of databases belonging to people wanting to promote all kinds of stuff you don't want. Why am I telling you this? Because this week alone I have seen 6 websites with this problem, and thats 6 too many. Check your website for this problem today please. Is this painful? Probably. Is this necessary? Yes.

12.01.2022 As from Aug 17 this page will come down. We are rebranding as mediaglue and have a new page so please check it out. https://www.facebook.com/Mediaglue-Pty-Ltd-517291275014191/

11.01.2022 This latest addition to AdWords is the biggest news since the disappearance on the RH sidebar ads earlier this year. It's called Expanded Text Ads and it enable advertisers to dominate even more of the search results page. This is the biggest threat to SEO ever.... Ok, so here's the expanded text ad creator and how to take advantage of it: (Note: The hyperlinks below aren't real!) Final URL: enter the full and complete URL e.g. nameofwebsite.com/thisisthefolder/thisisthepage Headline 1: enter headline up to 30 characters Headline 2: enter second headline up to 30 characters Path: enter something relevant here such as buyshoesshoes.com/ladies/sandals (up to 15 charatcers per field) This is NOT the page path, it is to confirm page relevance. Description: Great looking, really comfy sandals you can wear to the beach or to dinner. Up to 80 characters inc spaces. {YES!} So new we can create ads with 140 characters. Imagine how much real estate you can occupy with this and well-constructed Ad Extensions. Expand the image to see Google's example.

11.01.2022 The Bing saga continues... an utter nightmare.

10.01.2022 Asked again today to have a look at a non-performing AdWords campaign. They have spent over $2,000 in the last 30 days; $12.000 over 6 months and a so-called "expert" campaign manager has been overseeing their account. In six months my estimate is that close to 33% of clicks have been for search terms that should have been added to their negative list; there is no consideration given for mobile search and their ads aren't being split-tested.... I could list 10-15 immediate improvements to their account; suffice it to say that yet again, absolute amateurs posing as professionals are screwing this media for innocent business owners. What pisses me off is that this is a weekly occurrence. In the close to 20 years i have been online, I have lost count of the number of people so-called "experts" with high visibility who have ripped people off. If there's a lesson in this; here it is: All that glitters is not gold.

10.01.2022 Delighted that we are now Google Premier Partners!

05.01.2022 This is one of those weird search terms you find when delving deep into an AdWords campaign's search term list: www sun shade awnings for bay windows in australia qld com This stuff never ceases to amaze me!

04.01.2022 For all Australian clients using Google AdWords: Google have today advised that from November 1. all accounts will be billed from Google Australia instead of Google Singapore. This means that effective from November, GST will be added to your invoice.

04.01.2022 Just completing the keyword research project for a new client. There will be 7 AdGroups and there are over 300 negatives keywords and phrases. Here's the thing, it's as important to know what you don't want to be found for as it is to know what you do want to be found for!

03.01.2022 Thanks to Marketing Land for this gem: A few weeks ago, the news broke that Googles starting the mobile-first indexing of the web, meaning that they will index the mobile version of websites instead of its desktop version. The implication is that the mobile version of your pages will determine how they should rank in both mobile and desktop search results. Read the full article here:

02.01.2022 Frustration! Why do so many companies insist on lengthy, time consuming ID processes when you call their help line? Banks and ATO are bad enough but Bing! take the cake. Every time I call them it takes between 6 and 7 minutes for them to prove I'm me. ... So today, being thoroughly sick of it, asked them to call me back instead of waiting on the line for 10 minutes while they researched my question. When they did call back, I put their rep through a 5-minute ID process. Probably a nasty thing to do, yes and did it make any difference? Frankly I doubt it as the poor guy had no idea what was going on. FYI, the problem still isn't resolved and that's after 5 or 6 calls and several emails. So what's my point? How difficult is it for callers to reach you; how tight is your defence?

01.01.2022 Terrific reminder from Paul Barrs of why we need to have all of the passwords for our websites, web hosting and social media accounts under our control. I frequently talk with people who have no idea what their passwords are or where to find them Please treat them with the same respect as you do you bank PIN and phone access codes. http://email.paulbarrs.com.au//76718F77E274FF40D9767B60027

01.01.2022 Positive note for today: Spoke with a new client today, took over their AdWords account a couple of weeks and rebuilt it. basically the clicks have doubled and the cost per click halved. He's happy, i'm happy!

01.01.2022 I've been in business which means sales and marketing for 44 years and I can tell you from bitter experience that the only things that matter are addressing your customers problems at a price that exceeds your costs. Yeah, for 44 years my only KPIs has been how much new business i've generated and at what GP. Here's a commercial reality check for everyone: Your revenue means jack shit if it isn't profitable. How much you take is not equal to how much you make.... Demand for what you do is the clue: no demand = no business. You can't spend ego or pay your taxes with it. Oh, and tip #2; if you make a mistake and fuck something up, 'fess up and tell someone.
