06.01.2022 We are still not 100% sure what the U.S servicemen ate whilst based at the top-secret base in Charleville, but perhaps it included some of the items mentioned in this documentary about food rations for American troops. This is a fascinating short film about how they experimented with different types of food for energy and how those foods were processed into rations which were sent all around the world with the troops during WWII. - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YueiTnSl_Bo - #topsecretWWIItour #charleville #holidayherethisyear #WWII

02.01.2022 Today, the 2nd of September 2020, marks 75 years since the official end of World War 2. This is the official date due to the formal surrender document being signed by the Japanese onboard the American Battleship, USS Missouri, on the 2nd of September 1945. - This photo was taken in Brisbane and is thought to have been taken after a procession celebrating victory in Europe during WWII. - Photo credit: State Library of Queensland

01.01.2022 Did you know that every American Serviceman who travelled to Australia during WWII was given a copy of the book Instructions for American Servicemen in Australia 1942? - Because of the cultural differences between America and Australia at the time, this instruction booklet was created to ease the transition for soldiers who came here during the war. This exert is taken from that book and shows how it was used to familiarise them with the Aussie slang!

01.01.2022 Have you met our newest Top-Secret WWII Tour guide, Emily?
