25.01.2022 Watch another part of the Titans Sport Performance interview I did way back in April this year. In this segment, we chat about my training program and a time when I considered representing PNG...

25.01.2022 Whilst the Sporting World has been paused our MyPhysio Sporting Stars have still remained focus on their goals. The next few posts will introduce you to our 202...0 group of athletes we support as you get to know their achievements, ambitions and how they have managed their training around COVID restrictions. We hope they can inspire you as they do us. Our first feature is Australian Champion Heptathlete, Tori West. Learn more about Tori and how she has approached the Covid Off Season. The forced Off Season has actually been a big opportunity for me. I have maintained a pretty positive attitude towards it. Being relatively young in training age, the more time I have to build, the better. The extra time has allowed me build my fitness and balance my body to ensure it sustains and thrives under the load Heptathlon training requires. MyPhysio has helped me acheive this through a tailored Strength & Conditioning program and practical Wellness advice... Like sleep more.Right now I am healthy and improving consistently. And that’s the key to success in my event. I am very excited to compete again soon."

25.01.2022 Remember when Tori West became the 2020 Australian Heptathlon champion!? She won with 6028 from Rachel Limburg 5471 and Andrea Thompson 5343. #thisisathletics #athstogether

25.01.2022 Last week I decided to do a heptathlon at the NQ Championships. Grateful to have a hit out despite the tough windy conditions. During the offseason, I have built very good fitness and my body is healthy. However, I haven't had access to facilities to work on technical events properly. Thankfully facility access is almost back to normal this week. Finished with 5716 points. And an unofficial PB in the hurdles of 14.20s... ... 100mH - 14.20s (-1.4m) High Jump - 1.66m Shot Put - 13.12m 200m - 24.49s Long Jump - 5.46m Javelin - 49.10m 800m - 2:24.70min 2 hours after the heptathlon, I threw in the Open Javelin and ended up throwing 52.73m which is my 2nd biggest ever. Very very happy with this. Olympic Qualification opens up again on the 1st of December. It's been a busy offseason. I have been flat out with work too outside of athletics and almost finished a backlog that has allowed me to save for the 2021 season. Then it's all in on executing that Olympic qualifier of 6420 points. The team and I know what we need to do. Let's go.

24.01.2022 There is uncertainty around the 2021 Olympics. I stopped watching or reading the news a while ago. It matters not whether it goes ahead or is cancelled for me. My goal is always just to be the best athlete I can be. So nothing changes. I still train and enjoy what I do. Life is bigger than the Olympics. It's a privilege to participate and I have no expectations. Whatever comes, comes. My job is just to train hard and continue improving. https://www.townsvillebulletin.com.au//3bb9cffc566f04df888

21.01.2022 10 year old Tori (1.43m) vs 24 Year Old Tori (1.78m). Dad taught me to jump on the backyard trampoline. Though he didn’t teach me to arch very well... Thankfully I fixed that. Found this in the archives. Love reflecting on progress.... #highjump #progress #process #heptathlon #throwback #athletics @ Townsville, Queensland

18.01.2022 Thanks for the feature. I am Australian but proud of my PNG heritage. And I hope my story encourages Polynesian and Melanesian Girls who might watch this to dream big and work hard. No barriers. More interview segments coming soon.

17.01.2022 Confirmed, next competition is in Mackay 2nd - 4th October. I am just going to compete in some individual events as the Tokyo qualification period is not yet open. Excited. Please God, keep the restrictions away and the tail winds blowing legally.

16.01.2022 First little competition of the season in Brisbane. Ran a massive 400m PB of 55.11s - We are in good shape for the heptathlon in 5 days' time. I'm excited! Townsville North Star Athletics Club... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=he4WNgBwIjs

16.01.2022 When I first starting learning Javelin in 2011 / 12 my first coach Gary Cairns told me to print this picture of Kim Mickle (Australian Javelin Thrower #3 all-time) in the power position and write on it "One day Tori will look like this when she throws". I found some new images from World Uni Champs in 2019. What do you think? Did I get it?

15.01.2022 My 200m PB from over the weekend 24.07s. Definetly the highlight of the weekend. I have been chasing this PB for a long while. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bsjnCkSA3YA

14.01.2022 So this went a little viral on Tik Tok. 232k views and counting. Hahaha. Enjoy.

14.01.2022 The 2021 season has begun! Ran a 100m PB of 12.25s and a solid 400m of 55.98s over the weekend. Good signs leading into the National Championships, now 6 weeks away. I will be competing in a few individual events at the QLD State Championships this weekend. Then it's time to pull everything together to nab that Olympic Qualifier in Sydney on the 15th & 16th April.

11.01.2022 QLD State Champs Day 2 Didn’t finish today... Grade 1 strain of my elbow in javelin. I made a technical error. I was devastated initially but more so about missing that overall PB I was in shape for. But all okay now. There is always opportunity in what seems like a crappy situation. ... I’ll work on my other events while my elbow rehabs for the next 3 weeks Absolutely stoked with my day 1 results. We are certainly on track. If there is one thing I know about myself. I ALWAYS come back stronger from disappointment. Bring on Nationals 2021. Thank you 2020. Thanks to my coach Eric for guiding me these performances. And thank you especially to my team and support. You know who you are x

10.01.2022 I built a new website for myself! It's probably information you already know if you follow my progress here. But check it out anyway :) Stay tuned... In 2021 I have some BIG announcements coming. ... www.toriwest.com.au See more

06.01.2022 Oh gosh. I might get myself in trouble for this podcast. But thanks Dani for the chat.

06.01.2022 Who knows if the games go ahead. It matters not to me, I will still train just as hard and make the most of 2021.

06.01.2022 Check out this awesome edit by Maverick Productions. It randomly popped up on my Instagram - what a surprise. This designer also happens to be from Hula in PNG where my Mum is from. Small world. Training is going very well despite restrictions. Next event announced soon...

05.01.2022 52.73m Post Heptathlon (PB 53.27m) The winds blew some big throws out of the sector in the actual Heptathlon event. So I decided to do the Open Javelin after the 800m to see what I could produce. I can feel a big hit coming soon.

04.01.2022 Hey hey hey, I wrote a guest article on the Move It NQ website sharing my best tips to start getting into running fitness. To be honest, distance running isn't my strongest suit, but I have improved significantly and that's what is most important. https://bit.ly/2BqskbP... Give it a read if you are interested and also like and follow Move It NQ. They are an organisation dedicated to creating programs to help get people active and into sports clubs. Happy Friday.

03.01.2022 82.5kg Power Clean PB. I love the feeling of a PB. The real challenge is backing up for lactic this afternoon ... this could be painful.. #powercleans #improvements #heptathlon
