24.01.2022 Big day at TASC yesterday. Such a beautiful day attracted a huge fleet in light but sunny awesome conditions. We have around 30 sailors on the water. Racing fleet 1 skate, 2 original windsurfers, 3 Windsurfer LT’s, 1 Neil Pryde RSX, 3 or so lasers, 1 flying ant and half a dozen or so Sabots!... Lessons We had 4 new windsurfing students today Lia, Don, Aiden and Louise- all did remarkably well for first lessons and all managed to change direction, cover a lot of ground and had a thoroughly good time on the water showing glimpses of perfect form and upwind sailing skills, good balance and good attitude to learning. Did a few rescues as some of my students appeared attracted to the Yacht club around lunch time, maybe they were getting thirsty? Good times. I didn’t get to race but had a sail returning one board back to club and got huge satisfaction helping these new windsurfers on their journey of discovery! Eliza jumped on the Windsurfer LT after racing the Laser for a quick go showing she is still keen! Pete Doolan gave up windsurfing for the day to sail with Lewis and Ally on a laser. Great to see the fleet of sabots from Carey Bay join us for the day and the Beashel’s joined in as well from Sunshine. Results to come soon... Club has 4 Sabots left for sale, $500 each complete and in good working order! Sold two yesterday to Danielle and Michael, Iron Spencer and Iron Chieftain - congrats! 3 slightly newer Sabots - unmarked and Iron Prince still for sale. Oh also good progress on new windsurfer racks this week!

24.01.2022 More photos from today's sailing to come but this guy wins photo subject of the day - Peter Doolan winner of Race 2 and a stunning way to cross the line.

21.01.2022 Toronto once again shines with a beautiful day on Sunday and we got to share our foreshore with @CCACinc Thanks for visiting us! We had a great day, kicking off with some Learn to Sail students ably tutored by Lia, Neil and the team, and some more practice on windsurfers by Karen and Bens father John. They are both getting better with each time out on the water and joined us for the afternoon races. We had a lovely little breeze in the morning but it progressively eased off ...as the afternoon arrived. Anthony had to work hard to get his board foiling and understandably called it a day after Race 1. The rest of the fleet managed to get in two races, though the second race shortened with a quick buoy movement with help from Scott from the Carey Bay fleet of sabots that joined us, and a start line move due to shifting wind direction. It ended up quite drifty but it made for some beautiful photos as the sun lowered - wish I took my proper camera out! Race 2 became a battle of the windsurfers as they could pump down wind. Ben Micallef put some pressure on Peter Doolan but in the end Pete wins his first race at TASC - well done mate. Cudos to Ben as he had run 30kms in the morning, earning a cooling off swim at the finish. Sarah graced us with her LT prowess, big smiles and took out the womens division. Well done to all who sailed, we hope you had some fun. Our next Learn to Sail (8 week program) starts on Sunday 18th October for only $200! All the gear and qualified coaching is provided for absolute beginners and more advanced coaching as needed. Kids can use their $100 NSW Gov Active Kids voucher making the 8 week course a very affordable and fun sport option. Learn to sail a dinghy or windsurfer. Big thanks to our sponsors RA Mackay Yacht Brokerage Michel's Patisserie Marine Outlet JR Works - Landscaping & Design, MEB Sail Design

As well as organising a regatta hosting over 90 windsurfers, we managed to cater for them all, run an excellent race program, had Marine Outlet on site selling heaps of essential sailing gear including Vaikobi PFDs and rubber booties. We have initiated our TASC summer fundraising raffle with a windsurfer LT as the first Prize. Go pro second and various minor p...rizes. We also ran a one day raffle with various prizes, had a huge presentation with plenty of giveaways for lucky competitors who stayed for the presentation. Thanks to all the windsurfers who turned up for some ideal regatta conditions and supported our club so well over the weekend. Get yourself online and check out our Windsurfer Raffle. It will help us buy more sailing gear and do some essential maintenance to the club. https://www.rafflelink.com.au/tascsailing2020 Yours in sailing Al Haynes, TASC.

15.01.2022 Hey guys and girls, thanks for your amazing show of support over the three pages I shared the graffiti damage to our club on. Our community response is overwhelmingly positive and there has been some fabulous offers of help. Our committee will be contacting a guy who has cleaned it up before for us tomorrow to see when he can help. We may be doing a working bee either Sat arvo or Sunday morning will advise when we know more. A lot of the building has been treated to make remo...val easier than having to repaint (I hope) roller doors may be a different story. Cameras and lighting definitely on our agenda ASAP. Thanks everyone once again. TASC Committee. Neil Petherbridge Mark Kirby Darren Boden Ken Davies Andrew Mears Al Haynes PS we are looking forward to an awesome summer sailing season for dinghys and Windsurfers, racing and Lessons etc. everyone is more than welcome to come along and check out the fun we have both on the water and after sailing. Rectification completed! Many thanks to David Wilde for all his effort this morning and breaking the back of the job with an application of graffiti removal solution and no doubt a lot of scrubbing. David has recently rejoined our club and showing his character by getting in there early to rectify the mess. Neil Petherbridge our pres also helped out as did Mark Kirby our club secretary manning the sanding and pressure cleaner for those stubborn marks and myself on pressure cleaner. Looking pretty good, we will be repainting a few sections in near future as that pressure cleaner preferred to remove some of the older paint than the new stuff. May have to locate the graffiti scoundrels and find out what brand they use....

14.01.2022 Graffiti removed successfully today, a few chemical, pressure cleaner, sand paper and some elbow grease. Four good men and a good few hours. Even managed to do... a windsurfing lesson with one of our youth sailors, Eliza Kirby. Going well, progressed to full sized regatta rig on the LT today and sailed for two hours covering a lot of ground. Awesome effort and looking pretty comfortable sailing after only 4 lessons. Won’t be long and she’ll be giving me hell on the racecourse! She even managed to beat me back to shore against a difficult light breeze! A rewarding afternoon. Thanks everyone again for your positive feedback and offers of assistance. Appreciated more than you will ever know. Love Toronto and love our lake!

13.01.2022 Our hard working President of TASC, Neil getting a sweat up on an old Windsurfer One Design (this one weighs 24kgs) board but LT sail. Thanks for all of your hard work Neil.

12.01.2022 Salt water sooths the soul! Our Learn to Sail students certainly experienced that this morning with a mixture of wind conditions that tested even the best of our sailors today. Well done to all of our junior sailors, adult sailors and windsurfers! You all did so well and are progressing nicely with your learning. Next week our club is hosting the Windsurfer State Titles, so LTS students please arrive ready for a 9am start on Sunday. 08.01.2022 This is the childish behaviour we have to deal with at Toronto Amateur Sailing Club and Sailability on an all too regular basis! We are a small group of volunt...eers that run this little not for profit club serving our community and some dopey delinquents seem to think this is cool. If you recognise their tags, politely ask them to grow up and do something constructive. We would happily accept them at our club to learn sailing and responsible behaviour. See more

05.01.2022 Hello everyone, and in particular, proposed student for this Saturday’s Learn to Windsurfer Lessons With due consideration to the weather forecast on numerous sites predicting 15-20knots SE breeze all day Saturday, the club (TASC) has decided to postpone the event till Late January. 01.01.2022 A hot weekend of sailing at Toronto Amateur Sailing Club as part of the 505 NSW State Titles series. Temps in the 40's didn't dampen the spirit of crews, including 3 boats from S.A. Sunday the breeze really kicked in and Marks Pt gauge took gusts of 50+ knots. All are safe and back on shore but not before some flying reaches and a swim or two. 01.01.2022 This photo, taken a few weeks back reminds me of another of our clubs sponsors... it is terrific to get such great support from our community! John Roberts and his family donated two Starboard Rios to the club for the learn to windsurf program. These are terrific boards to aid in learning being relatively wide and stable with a smallish 5m rig. Here Aidan and Don were sailing during their first lesson, since then, after two lessons they can comfortably sail out, turn and ret...urn safely to shore in a light breeze. Stronger winds will challenge them as they develop their muscle memory and hone their technique but that is all part of the fun of windsurfing! These boards will also be a great asset as they develop and start using footstraps and harnesses in stronger winds, as these boards reall are quite fast in a blow. John Roberts is a local landscaper / Concreter from Coal Point and was involved in windsurfing on Lake Macquarie when the sport was still in its infancy here. He has been sailing kites and high performance gear for years and must have a good level of expertise as his daughter, Peri is one of the worlds hottest Kitesurfers sponsored by Robby Naish, former multiple World Champion from the age of 14 sailing against guys twice his age and whipping them hard. He picked up windsurfing at 12 years of age using a full sized sail and heavy timber booms. He is a true Hawaiian waterman who is just at ease kiting, foiling, surfing, SUPing etc as he is on a windsurfer. Hence he has been called the king for his sheer dominance for many years. Anyhow, thanks John and crew for your support of our clubs prospering Windsurfing fleet and school. If you want work done by a craftsman with integrity and a good community spirit, look him up. Smooth Sailing, Al Windsurfing Training Coordinator, Toronto Amateur Sailing Club. PS. We sail Sundays at the club, a few weeks left of free lessons if you’d like to join us at 10:00am and check it out. Your 12 year old child could be the next world champ, we breed them good here on Lake Macquarie with many windsurfing and sailing world champions and Olympians over the years.
