23.01.2022 Your Masters T20 side won their pool and secured a home semi finals birth last night with an emphatic 9 wicket victory over Wests. Our bowlers did a stunning job after a solid opening partnership. Dave Appleby and Stuey Greenfield tore apart the middle and lower order of our opponents, at one point losing 6 wickets for 7 runs. The #ShiningYellowGold made short work of the run chase with your former president and current secretary adding an unbeaten 50 for the 2nd wicket.

19.01.2022 Our senior match recaps from the weekend. A tough weekend, not able to grab a W in any match but there were some highlights and we were certainly very competitive in most contests. Brendon Charlton made his highest score for the club with his knock of 88 and had brought us within striking distance of a fantastic run chase in 1s before wickets tumbled on the stroke of lunch to put paid to our chances.... Sadly last week's heroics of 2nd grade could not be repeated as we fell to a 4 wicket reverse outright loss. Alex Kardamis and Chris Dickson giving us a fighting chance to defend 95. 3rd grade petered out to a 1st innings loss with a fighting captains knock from Scott Marjoribanks removing an outright from the equation. 4th grade showed a lot of fight against strong and experienced opposition but a few missed opportunities in the field cost us dearly. James Blair and Rod Lundy both bowled superbly and deservedly took 4 wickets each. We were in the thick of the run chase until young Hunter Jensen fell for 49, another mature innings from him. On Sunday our DB's side lost by 10 runs after their innings was reduced to 11 overs with Mark Roberts making another solid contribution with the stick.

19.01.2022 Team selections for our first two-dayers of the summer and our Suburban Districts affiliated teams this weekend. Congratulations to Cameron Mott on selection for your 3rd grade debut. Congratulations to gutsy youngster John Roseland on making your club debut this weekend in 4th grade.

18.01.2022 Team selections for this weekend. After last weekend's wash out, 4th grade is included along our Suburban Districts affiliated teams for Saturday. Sunday's T20 double header of Under 21s and DB Cup will be at home of Westlakes cricket, Ron Hill Oval starting at 11am.

18.01.2022 Congratulations to John Roseland on making your debut for the club this weekend in 4th grade. John has been a junior coach with the club for a number of seasons, this summer working with one of our two under 13s teams. He plays a very important mentoring role in helping our juniors transition into grade cricket. In a very special moment for the Roseland family and the club, John also played with his eldest son Nathan for the first time.

17.01.2022 GROUNDS CONFIRMED At yesterday’s season launch we were happy to announce the confirmation of all grounds from council. We thank City of Newcastle for their... support of our new competition and following suit of Lake Macquarie City Council and Port Stephens Council in allocating the grounds required for our Suburban Districts to get underway. This has been a lengthy process and we appreciate the time and effort gone into the decision and CN has provided excellent feedback and support for the long term viability of cricket in the region. We also thank the local Cricket NSW staff for their efforts during this time, Neil McDonald, Francis Walsh and Tim Cox have been available every hour of every day to support the best decisions for cricket. Competition draws for Suburban Districts and Development League are now well underway and we will be able to release these early next week. Thank you to everyone for their patience.

Girls interested in playing this team get an additional 2 years dispensation. We'd also love to see more kids sign up for our blasters programs and Sixers Girls League teams.

10.01.2022 Our weekly junior match recaps from Saturday's games. Well done to all of our players for your efforts and performances. The highlight of the day would be the Under 12s nail biter against Waratah. Needing 9 from the final over, Hamish Mulcahy returned to the crease and whacked 2 boundaries to win the game with 2 balls to spare.

09.01.2022 FIXTURES ANNOUNCED (1st and 2nd grade only) Attached are the Draws for the 1st Grade Tom Locker Cup & 2nd Grade Royce McCormack Cup. Please note that in round...s 1 & 2, there will be Sunday Matches allocated due to a shortage of available grounds (as previously advised). These Sunday matches will be: Round 1 Sunday 11th 1st grade Hamilton-Wickham v Wallsend @ Ron Hill Oval Round 1 Sunday 11th 2nd grade Wallsend v Hamilton-Wickham @ Robert Holland Oval Round 2 Sunday 18th 2nd grade Hamilton-Wickham v University @ Bernie Curran Oval Round 2 Sunday 18th 2nd grade Newcastle City v Wallsend @ Learmonth Park All other matches in rounds 1 & 2 will be played on the Saturday. Please note that grounds noted with an asterisk * will be confirmed early next week. If a ground issue occurs we may need to reallocate a new venue. In subsequent rounds, in most cases where there is a shortage of grounds, the higher grade will take priority over lower grades, thus some grounds might be re-allocated. The draws for Suburban Districts, 3rd Grade, 4th Grade & Development League which begin on Saturday 17th, will also be confirmed next week, once grounds have been confirmed (as we still await NCC summer ground licensees to be allocated). In these difficult times, and with the extension of winter sports, the NDCA Board of Management has endeavoured to promote our sport by ensuring that as much cricket be played as possible.

04.01.2022 #KookasGameDay scores thread brought to you today by All-Aus Plumbing. Post all of your #ShiningYellowGold match updates here. Play well Kookas. #KookasDontStop #PressureKookas

04.01.2022 Our Masters T20 side remains undefeated after a solid 6 wicket victory last night over Waratah. The #ShiningYellowGold did an excellent job through the middle overs to peg things back after a brisk start from our opponents. Taking the pace off and making it tough to score quickly. A 65 run opening stand between the skipper Corey Loveday and Chris Kuszelyk cranked up the run chase and we stayed ahead of the game from there with everyone chipping in to reach the target with 1...7 balls to spare. #KookasGameDay #KookasDontStop #PressureKookas

03.01.2022 Manly Warringah District Cricket Club T20 double header sponsors day. #honouredguests #ShiningYellowGold #KookasDontStop

01.01.2022 A fantastic turnout this morning down at the #kookasnest for the junior come and try day. Big thank you to @cricketnsw Tim Cox and Matt Williams for organising the day along with everyone who volunteered their time to help. Fingers crossed but it looks like we could end up with another junior team directly through the interest generated today!

01.01.2022 Senior match recaps from the weekend's play. Being forced to bowl first in the oppressive conditions in 3 out of 4 games wasn't ideal but our bowlers went above and beyond on the day only to not get as much support from the bats. 1st grade's bowlers put us in a strong position before letting the initiative slip away late in the day. One positive is having captain Adrian Chad back from rep duty as a not out batsman. Josh Westwood and Matthew Somerville led the way.... 2nd grade have lost on first innings and have a 50 run deficit to make up with 3 more wickets to take. 3rd grade had the pleasure of fielding in the Awaba oven. The experience of Dean Readett shone through, toiling for 15 overs for his 2/23. 4th grade rolled the home side for 113 but in the pursuit of a day 1 victory have left things a little tricky with 3 more runs to get the W. Kayl Jones-Antcliffe was brilliant with the ball and just missed out on 5fa. James Blair again showed his skills with the bat and ball. The old bull Chris Kuszelyk even returned to the bowling crease. Excellent wins by both Suburban Districts teams, Abhi Mahoorkar's brisk 54* the highlight in a 9 wicket victory for the Tavs. In Sunday's T20's, we had a win and a loss. Jamie Larsen took 3 economical wickets and top scoring in the U21's defeat. Alex Kardamis and Ninj were the standouts in the DB's comfortable 4 wicket triumph.

01.01.2022 3rd grade skipper and long time committee member, Scott Marjoribanks passed a couple of milestones in the past week. When he took the field against Wallsend, Scott has become the 2nd player in club history to reach 100 matches in 3rd grade. Gunter Schymkiw holds the record with 116 games. Scott has also moved into the top 10 of the club's all-time leading run scorers, surpassing Robert Holland's tally of 4639. Smarj has played 223 matches, made 4653 runs at an average of 24.11 with 5 hundreds and 16 fifties.
