25.01.2022 Yesterday was a perfect day to be in the kitchen ..... I made Ricotta & Spinach Cannelloni and a Lemon Ricotta Tart, pastry is not my strength but I love my 'new' rolling pin (almost 100 years old) ...... I used the last bag of Torosay lamb mince so we will be processing sheep for lamb mince and sausages at the end of this month .... still $15kg ...... message me ......

25.01.2022 Over the past few days Mark has turned the green manure crop into the soil by hand..... it's hard work but less disruptive than using the rotary hoe ...... it is then watered to help with breakdown and then a layer of aged poultry bedding straw and topped off with old meadow hay to help suppress any regrowth.....this was last years tomato patch and will be this year's pumpkin, zucchini and cucumber bed .....

25.01.2022 I have had extremely poor basil crops the past two years .... I am putting it down to the bore water..... this year I am starting them off in the glass house.... still too cold to plant out in the garden....it's also time to pop seeds in ....

22.01.2022 We had a lovely dinner from the farm last night ..... chard and giant red mustard leaf with poached egg ....... then a first attempt at pumpkin pie .... we still have plenty of pumpkins stored on an old farm gate hung from the shed roof .... it was delicious .... a little soft in the centre..... the recipe states it should jiggle but not wobble or wiggle ....... really..... we used a gramma pumpkin which have awesome flavour and colour...... recipe in the comments...... I made my own crust using 250gr packet of Nice biscuits and 140gr melted butter in the wizz and then pressed into a 20cm tin and chilled for 30mins ........

20.01.2022 Watch out or the weeds will take over your garden beds this time of year, you must catch them before they set seed ! I did see white butterflies today but the kale and collard is netted so we never need to spray.

19.01.2022 Beautiful day to be in the garden.... Cody dog usually stays close by so when I noticed him gone I went to find him .... he had sniffed out a baby blue tongue lizard.....even at this size they have a ferocious bite....

15.01.2022 Between showers yesterday I quickly gave the chook pen hedge a bit of a weed ..... little stinging nettles everywhere......a couple of the self seeded, transplanted Lucerne trees didn't survive so I have replaced with acacia...... I had plenty of helpers..

13.01.2022 I am absolutely sick to my core ...... Connor discovered a large dog at least 300mts inside our fence line with one of the new lambs dead in its mouth ..... by the time Connor had run back to the house to get his gun it had disappeared, he will now be taking his rifle with him on his strolls across the top paddock...... it was a large, bull mastiff size dog a patchy gray color, and a mixed breed .......it will be back which leaves me feeling helpless ....poor sweet little lamb .... RESOLUTION ..... The dog owners have come forward and taken responsibility, thank you all for the love x

10.01.2022 Did anyone else notice winged ants today ...... it happens around this time of year on warm, still days....... the larger ones are female and the smaller are male and they are heading out to form new nests ....

08.01.2022 Dinner from the farm..... I had taken a Torosay lamb roast out for dinner but with Adelaide having the hottest Spring day ever the plan changed, Connor boned it and we had stir-fry instead ...

05.01.2022 Headed out to Murray Bridge today and was horrified by the invasion of Salvation Jane and Cape Weed .... if you see it coming into your property rip it out immediately and you can beat these weeds.......

05.01.2022 Chickens ......... there must be something very special about this nesting box.... there is 4 hens in there.....

04.01.2022 The front hedge and garden are coming along..... planted and drip irrigation installed and covered in bark ..... we put a thick layer of newspaper down first, this suppresses the weeds and grass coming back through...... the previous owners had put down carpet which is an absolute nightmare and doesn't work ....... we have just about finished our second truck load of mulch at 20 cubic mtrs each and I need more !!!!

04.01.2022 I love how memories pop up in the Facebook news feeds, This is Cody Dog and we got him 8 years ago, he loves dirt, chasing tractors, chickens, fire and lying on his back ....... he was sold to us as a pure breed kelpie but he isn't, but we don't love him any less, Happy Birthday Super Dog ...........
