24.01.2022 Torquay Boardriders Club (TBC) and the Great Ocean Road Coast Committee (GORCC) @greatoceanrdcoast are very happy to announce that a Public Access Defibrillator (PAD) will be launched on the western side of the amenities in the Jan Juc beach carpark. The PAD will be available for use in the event of a cardiac emergency and is one of the first of its kind to be located at a surf beach within the Surf Coast Shire. 18.01.2022 In response to the devastating fires that ripped through the town of Mallacoota Quiksilver, Surfing Victoria and our team at TBC teamed up to put on the 26th annual single fin event in Torquay. A total of $7,492 dollars was raised through a number of initiatives including the some of the bar takings at the presentation hosted by Bird Rock Jan Juc . Members and the Torquay surfing community need to be setting the standard of doing the right thing Spread out and find a less crowded bank We are very lucky on the Surfcoast we have so many surf breaks to choose from if you favorite spot is crowded go check somewhere else. Hunt up ...the beach if need be. at least 1.5 meters social distance needs to be maintained in the line up, the carpark, the lookout, everywhere. Surfing is very important to many us all, lets work together and all do our part to ensure we can continue to enjoy the ocean in this tough time. An illegal gathering state wide is now 3 or more people. Go to the beach solo, get your fix and get out. Spread out, or get out. And, as such Torquay Boardriders has decided to postpone the following events, in guidance with recommendations from relative authorities: 28 March Junior AGG 3 and This Girl Can Event... Easter - Bells Raffle 2 May Junior AGG 4 13 May Committee Meeting 16 May Senior AGG 3 We understand this decision will be disappointing for many however the health and well-being of you all is priority. And whilst we feel it is important that we play our part in reducing the spread of the virus, we should also not forget the importance of physical activity and mental well- being for all. We are all so fortunate to be living along a beautiful coastline so get out there and keep surfing! We will work hard to try and re-schedule as many events as possible, however gaining permits and having the dates available may be a little tricky, but we will try our best. We are aware that the Seniors have not yet held an aggregate due to unfavourable conditions, and we are trying to work out the best way forward for the competition year and will advise in due course. 02.01.2022 Members Update: Unfortunately the decision to possibly hold an event this year was made for us with the announcement of Stage 3 restrictions . The executive team has been meeting on a regular basis since April to discuss the possibility of running events and continually monitoring the situation and liaising with governing bodies and unfortunately at this stage we see no window to hold events for 2020. Please contact us via email [email protected] advising us... if you would like your membership to be rolled over to 2021 or a refund. If we do not hear from you by 20 August 2020 we will assume that you wish for your membership to be rolled over to 2021. We appreciate your understanding and patience during these uncertain times.
