25.01.2022 And congratulations to Sara Cole on winning another one of our prizes, with what sounds like a very deserving dad!.. Hi Thought I’d respond to your Fathers Day Giveaway!... My Hubby, Mikel Cole, is a hero because to our 2 proud Torquay Tigers sons and I he’s the best guy who ever lived. He’s the type of guy who lives quietly and kindly amongst us all, hiding in plain sight. But put him in any of his many uniforms he becomes an invincible, strong, fast, skilled lifesaver. He always puts his hand up to umpire the kids footy games, do first aid, be a runner or cut up the oranges. To earn a dollar he wires people’s worlds as a sparky and saves the day as a firefighter. He’ll certainly be found roaming the beaches this summer in a bright orange ‘bronze’ water safety rashie and I’m certain he won’t hesitate to stop for a friendly chat to anyone who wants to say hello. A man with no enemies and countless friends. A man that doesn’t know how to sit still or how to say ‘No’. He’s currently on annual leave with cancelled holidays so he just casually decides to renovates the house! I think he deserves a little something that’s says, You’re the best around, nothing’s gonna ever keep you down! Congrats ladies. We will contact both of your shortly to organise your awesome prizes!

18.01.2022 The Torquay Tigers are extremely excited to announce the appointment of their new Senior Women’s Football co-coaching team, Lisa Robinson and Josie Smith. Robinson said ‘I’m really exciting to be taking on the senior caching role for 2021 alongside Josie Smith’. Both Robinson and Smith, bring a vast array of experience, talent and passion to the Torquay Football Club, being involved in women’s football programs for a number of years. After the tigers debut season in 2019 unde...r outgoing coach Tim Humphries, which saw the team finish with 3 wins in the Division 1 competition, the tigers have taken the disruption of 2020 to plan for a program that will encourage new participants to join the senior women’s playing community, and also promote juniors through to senior participation within the Torquay Football ranks. Robinson recognises this opportunity and is passionate about developing pathways for juniors into senior programs’ and hopefully beyond to AFLW programs. 16.01.2022 IMPORTANT INFORMATION - PLEASE READ Good morning everyone You may have seen the release this week that there is a Junior Football Season proposed starting with contact training in mid July, followed by fixtured games from 1 August 2020. On Wednesday 17 June the TFC executive committee will meet to discuss the proposed season, following which a decision for the Junior Season will be released shortly after.... As a club we are incredibly supportive of the need to have our kids and young adults out on the field, for their mental and physical health in particular. At this point in time if the restrictions are lifted by the State Government and AFL Barwon are satisfied with the requirements I see no reason why we won't proceed. However, since training has started I have been made aware of some complaints from various members of the community that our club has been breaching the protocols that are in place for non contact training. In particular it has been disappointing to hear that the parents, spectators and families of the players have been ignoring the rules of maximum people on the ground and social distancing rules. I can assure you, given the liability that sits with the volunteers of our club we will cancel training and NOT go ahead with a season if we do not see an improvement in adherence to the protocols. Remember, the community are watching. They are taking photos and videos if they see something out of line and they WILL report the club. These rules and restrictions are not in place to make it difficult for you, it is to take the pressure off our valuable volunteers who are already overloaded with rules and regulations they need to follow just to get the players on the field to train. This is for the health and safety of volunteers, players, families and everyone in our community. There are vulnerable members of our community, including our own families and everyone should be protected. I urge you all to read, understand and adhere to all restrictions and protocols that are provided to your team from the club and the state restrictions. Believe me there has been a lot of work that has gone into getting our players back to Footy and we want to keep them there! Thank you in advance Jenny Wood President Torquay Football Club
