22.01.2022 Steel wires for wire ropes are normally made of non-alloy carbon steel with a carbon content of 0.4 to 0.95%. The wires are patented (heat process). In the following drawing process, the wire cross-section is reduced in stages, for example in seven stages from 6 to 2mm diameter. By the drawing process the nominal strength reaches between 1370 and 2450 N/mm. The very high strength of the rope wires enables wire ropes to support large tensile forces and to run over sheaves with relatively small diameters.

07.01.2022 Stainless Steel Wire Ropes. Stainless wire comes in 3 main strands (also refered to as construction) 1x19 (one by nineteen), 7x7 and 7x19. The numbers indicate the number of strands used in the twist of the wire. For example, 7x7 indicates that it is made up of 7 thin wires twisted together and then 7 of these twisted together again. In total there are 49 individual wires twisted to make the one strand of wire. The more wires that are twisted, the more flexible the strand of wire becomes.
