24.01.2022 RCR grabbed a major share of the large-scale solar contracting market after first entering the industry in 2016, but appears to have been undone by budget blowouts and connection delays, which left the company exposed to finding more cash, missing milestone payments and facing liquidated damages.

24.01.2022 Renewable Energy World - July 16, 2018 Utilities, regulatory authorities and their stakeholders are seeking innovative ways to manage and encourage increasing amounts of distributed energy while keeping utilities financially afloat. New proposals include time-varying utility rates, increased demand charges, demand charges for more customer classes, or a combination of all these policies. A legacy of the 19th century, utility demand charges have traditionally been paid by commercial and industrial utility customers. 22.01.2022 The voice of our youth, it should be heard, and we should all act on, as it is they and their children who will be inheriting our actions of today. 'You have stolen my dreams and my childhood with your empty words,' climate activist Greta Thunberg has told world leaders at the 2019 UN climate action summit in New York. In an emotionally charged speech, she accused them of ignoring the science behind the climate crisis, saying: 'We are in the beginning of a mass extinction and all you can talk about is money and fairy tales of eternal economic growth - how dare you!'

21.01.2022 Ecogeneration - 1st March 2016 The 56 MW Moree Solar Farm in northern New South Wales has started feeding renewable electricity into the grid, the Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) and Clean Energy Finance Corporation (CEFC) announced today. Developed by Fotowatio Renewable Ventures (FRV), it is Australias first utility-scale facility to feature single-axis tracking technology and the largest to use polycrystalline PV panels. 21.01.2022 The Group has been challenged by unprofitable solar contracts within its renewables operations, however the balance of the business operates across industries which are seeing increasing demand for services, said administrator and McGrathNicol partner, Jason Preston, in a statement on Thursday.

21.01.2022 If we maintained over the next decade the record rate of both rooftop solar installations and wind and solar farm construction commitments that have prevailed since 2017 then renewable energy would represent 78 per cent of electricity supply across Australias west and east coast main grids, the report says.

20.01.2022 The problem is not the problem; The problem is your attitude about the problem. The quality of our expectations determines the quality of our action.

20.01.2022 From RenewEconomy: "As we previously remarked, the mainstream media dont give a rats about NSW electricity, despite the fact that it ought to be the first issue on voters minds at the State election in March. NSW is dependent on imports, its own power stations are going to close, there is next to no transmission capacity within the State to build more power, and there is not much policy. Yet no one in the mainstream media gives a rats. Renew Economy is the only media site covering NSW electricity"

19.01.2022 "I am not among those who think its unethical to change the genes of our children. If it is possible to eliminate forever diseases such as cystic fibrosis, muscular dystrophy, hemophilia, sickle cell disease, fragile X syndrome, Huntingtons disease, and a slew of other genetic killers that plague humanity, then I think germline genetic engineering is ethically sound and must be pursued. But pursued is not the same as going underground, lying about your work, and putting children at risk. Thats where we are with this moral monstrosity of an experiment."

17.01.2022 Time for Guy to get real about Renewable Energy Jobs.....

16.01.2022 Turnbulls speech was largely focused on the need for storage, and particularly the promise of pumped hydro, and his pet scheme, the $6 billion plus Snowy 2.0 project on which Snowy Hydro is due to make a decision soon. He also defended his efforts to introduce the National Energy Guarantee, since dumped by his party, but embraced by Labor, albeit with a significantly higher emissions reduction target 45 per cent by 2030 compared with the Coalitions 26-28 per cent.

16.01.2022 The future coming at us.......

16.01.2022 Our recent study, which will be presented on December 11 at the UN Climate Change Conference, models electricity generation and demand as well as the cost of augmenting and extending transmission infrastructure. We found a transmission network connecting Australia to Indonesia could help both nations achieve 100% renewable electricity by 2050. This is in line with a UN push for more global power connections. Exporting clean power from countries with strong infrastructure to burgeoning global populations may be key to reaching the Paris Agreement climate targets.

15.01.2022 Remember this? The NT Government is still ignoring Traditional Owners! Chief Minister Michael Gunner is allowing oil and gas companies to frack in the NT next ...year. Even though his own Inquiry found that Aboriginal communities were overwhelmingly opposed to fracking on their land. We know whose side we're on -- which is why 14,000 GetUp members have taken the pledge to fight these disastrous fracking plans.

15.01.2022 This weekend brought the first days of summer, some searing temperatures in Queensland and some mini-tornadoes in South Australia and also a record level of production from renewable energy in Australias main grid.

15.01.2022 Ecogeneration - 3rd March, 2016 Genex Power has shortlisted two engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractors for the initial 50 MW stage one of its 150 MW Kidston Solar Project. Once the solar project is completed, it will be the largest solar farm in Australia. The solar project will be co-located next to Genexs 330 MW Kidston Pumped Storage Project a development that is believed to be a world first in terms of building and implementing a large-scale integrated renewable energy generator with a pumped storage facility. 14.01.2022 From RenewEconomy: "AEMO’s study included a comprehensive survey of the renewable energy-generation and energy-storage resources of eastern Australia. Then, using sophisticated least-cost system modelling, AEMO matched those resources with renewable energy technologies and scenario-based forecasts of electricity demand."

13.01.2022 Ecogeneration - 21st July, 2017 The Finkel Review provided direction from above but it is community groups that are spearheading the shift to renewables, writes Heather Smith. People should be at the heart of our energy system not consumers. Its unfortunate that the Chief Scientist Alan Finkels plan to update our failing electricity system doesnt acknowledge this. Yes, the Finkel Review has some great bits; it recognises the importance of distributed energy, or building our energy where its needed, and acknowledges that electricity consumers are becoming power producers who should be rewarded for their work. 10.01.2022 Considerable new information is available about the climate impacts of exploiting one of the largest untapped coal reserves on the planet. New coal projects are losing their social licence to operate as society understands the serious impact of climate change on humanity and the ecosystems we depend upon.

09.01.2022 Tomorrow, as bushfires and heat-waves continue to rage across the country, School Strike 4 Climate is rising to demand serious action on climate change. 08.01.2022 Its crucial in a warming world to support efforts to boost wind power, and therefore important to install wind farms responsibly to ensure that we harness as much energy as possible, even if the facilities are close together. That means its important to craft regulations to support such development. https://www.nature.com/articles/d41586-018-07528-1

07.01.2022 The following month, the QBCC issued a public warning against dealing with this company. "The QBCC warns all persons dealing with Onpoint Construction Pty Ltd to exercise extreme caution and seek legal advice before making any payments, to protect their interests," the QBCC said on January 6, 2017. The Australian Restructuring, Insolvency and Turnaround Association says illegal phoenix trading is a particular problem in the building industry.... "There's no doubt that right across the building industry we are seeing a proliferation of phoenix activity," the association's John Winter said. "In fact it's the one sector where it's almost unconstrained."

06.01.2022 Ecogeneration - 25th February, 2016 The newfound optimism of the Paris Agreement has been tempered by the recent CSIRO cuts, with a new Climate Council report finding they would breach Australias commitment under the agreement and leave a gap in the worlds understanding of climate change in the southern hemisphere. Titled Flying Blind: Navigating Climate Change Without the CSIRO, the report examines the local and international ramifications of the recent decision to cut more than 100 jobs from the agencys climate science staff. 03.01.2022 The new analysis from BNEF confirms that thermal coal power prices have doubled in two years, and in turn caused a doubling in the price of coal capacity in the NEM, so much so that wind and solar are now lower than even just the short-run cost of thermal coal from the spot market. The short run cost does not include the money spent on building a coal plant.
