25.01.2022 It's race day for our two boys at #UCIDoha2016. Time Trial day for the lads. The boys have said that the course is set to be extremely fast, with some tricky corners to handle. The heat will undoubtedly be a major factor out on course. -Maccie will fly off the start ramp first at 4:31pm AEDT -Cj will set sail at 5:20pm AEDT -Harry Sweeney (fellow aussie) will begin his journey form 7:52pm AEDT... You can cheer them live on the link below. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=317hLWTu3hs.

25.01.2022 The Total Rush Development Team rode superbly in the U19 Nationals Road Race with CJ and Maccie riding a smart race before riding off the front of the peloton and bridging over to the late break with a great move at the start of the final circuit - no mean feat at a national race. Jai patrolled the bunch in the later stages and kept himself as fresh as possible for the finish in case the race came back together. The bunch was breathing down the necks of the lads with less tha...n 1000m to go as the boys hit the single lane bridge and finishing turns before the uphill kick to the line. Kaden Groves launched off the front of the bunch with fresher legs and rounded up the break, just getting over the top of CJ at the death as he held on for a fine 2nd place. Maccie was right there with 6th place and Jai finished strongly in the middle of the peloton. Jai also went on to represent TRDT in the Crit today, progressing through his heat and finishing in the second bunch in the final. Awesome weekend from the team! (See also earlier post with the TT result.) See more

24.01.2022 Brendon Green won the Northern Combine Cycling - Official Italo Trophy race today! Showing some excellent form after his top ten overall at the Tour of East Gippsland last week.

23.01.2022 It was a big weekend at the Tour of Bright for Ethan, Maccie, CJ and Jai. It's the first year they've been eligible to ride the ToB and Ethan, Maccie and CJ were the youngest three riders in Elite A grade. Under the guidance of guest riders Mark O'Brien and Nathan Elliot the boys each had a chance to shine. CJ pulled out another strong TT to finish 17th in a class field on Friday. All the boys battled the heat during the 131 km Gaps loop on Saturday, which includes ascensions... to Bogong Village and Tawonga Gap, but finished strongly. On Sunday, Hotham beckoned and Ethan and Maccie rose to the challenge recording 17th and 23rd place finishes, leaving some super talent behind them on the road. Ethan, CJ and Maccie finished 27th, 37th and 46th respectively on GC in the strongest ToB field for many years. After making the jump to B grade in a very short space of time, Jai acquitted himself well with 61st on GC. A strong showing in the TT saw him just 2:10 down on the leader and if Jai continues to improve at this rate there will be some great results to come. Well done boys, and many thanks to Nathan and Marko (10th and 15th on GC as they build up for Nationals). More photos to come...

23.01.2022 Our new boys for 2019 ( Ewen Doonan, Trent Morey, Brendon Green, Liam Pino) had their climbing legs on and were ready to take on their first VRS race for the season as a team, in the grounds of Mansfield's rolling terrain and the infamous Mt Buller. Day one was a day to see who we were going to back for Sunday's 48km Buller stage, with Ewen rising to the top of the team in not only the 14km time trial but up old Tolmie road in the 75km road race, sneaking himself into the to...p 20 in both. Trent showed his climbing talent after starting the brutal Tomlie road climb at the back of the 75 rider field and went past 50 riders to get 22nd on the stage. On Sunday morning the boys had a crystal clear plan for the very straight forward race: support Ewen's GC chances, and get to the top of Buller. Through the painful assent we were met at the top with the news of Ewen and Brendon's awesome ride that saw Ewen get his first VRS top ten and Brendon just a minute behind in 15th. As their first season in A grade Brendan and Ewen offer plenty of promise for the rest of the season. Ewen finished 13th overall, Liam 29th, Brendon 40th, Trent 50th. This weekend showed our potential for the rest of the VRS season as our team overall placed 6th, ahead of some big name teams with big name budgets, and we're all keen to take on the Baw Baw Alpine Classic on April 7th. Thanks to Cycling Victoria and Mansfield CC for putting on the show and to Amy Bradley and Simon Coffin from Total Rush for giving us the platform and for the massive support. See more

23.01.2022 CJ and Maccie fronted up at the Supercrit for the Total Rush Hyster elite team and rubbed shoulders with the pros - both before and during the race. CJ managed to hit the front for the team (see video) but was caught up in a crash towards the end of the race. He's fine and hoping Ben Abels and big Kal are doing OK too. Tommy and Jai raced earlier in the day with Jai picking up another podium for the team.

23.01.2022 Joe Strummer summed up the dilemma best when he demanded to know "should I stay or should I go??!!" And when Riley (VIS) and Big Kal (Grupo) slipped off the front of the U19 Metro Road Champs race the Rush boys were forced to ask themselves that very question and to further speculate "if I go there will be trouble, and if I stay it will be double". Jai had a crack first and set off after the break as the gap opened up. Sadly his efforts were in vain. CJ went next ("this inde...cision's bugging me") and spent more than 20 km dangling between the break and the bunch. He could see the break and the bunch could see him and although he got to within 45 seconds he never quite got there ("it's always tease tease tease"). Paddy watched it all happen and decided to save his legs for the finale wondering to himself "should I cool it or should I blow" - after all there was still a bronze medal up for grabs! But the last thing CJ wanted was a bunch sprint for the minor place so he attacked again on the final loop and got away with World Junior Pursuit Champ Kel O'Brien bridging across to him soon after. Kallum and Riley rode a great race to take first and second and Kel rolled CJ on the line for third. A disappointing day for the Rush boys but thanks for a great day of racing! And thanks for a great song Joe!

22.01.2022 Now that the dust has settled at #UCIDoha2016 - literally - it's time to bring you some photos and this short report on the exploits of our Rush riders. This is for anyone that had their "head in the sand" last week (excuse the pun) and missed the live streaming, twitter feed or various other sources of information. Maccie and CJ both had great rides in the TT, benefitting from early start times but still suffering through temperatures in the mid to high thirties and relative...ly high humidity. Maccie came in 14th (in the world) and CJ finished 12th (despite a flat, a bike change and 6 km on his road bike to finish it off). Top stuff by both boys! In the road race, things started very well with all three boys (including team mate Harry Sweeney) moving up to the head of the race. The hydration strategy was also working well (including starting with camelback bladders). Unfortunately bad luck was around the corner, striking CJ first. Inside the first hour CJ picked up a safety pin in his back wheel and lost contact as neutral spares swapped out wheels. With no race convoy to speak of, CJ was faced with the impossible task of riding back to a bunch of 180 riders travelling at 46 kph. It wasn't to be. Maccie was looking good and went much deeper into the race when misfortune also struck him and a crash took him out of contention and the chance to work with Harry in the ever dwindling lead group. Harry went on to finish in a very strong 10th place but all were left wondering what might have been if two or even all three boys had made it to the finish. All in all, the boys acquitted themselves extremely well and were able to reflect on solid performances despite some bad luck. The boys have learned a lot and look forward to bringing their experiences back to the domestic racing scene for 2017. Thanks to all the sponsors and supporters of the Total Rush Development Team for helping Maccie and CJ to achieve national selection! See more

21.01.2022 Today the boys raced in the U19 Victorian State criterium Champs around the Albert park F1 race track. An early break formed with Ethan being apart of it. They got a gap and were never to be seen. Ethan grabbed second behind Kallum Parlevliet of the Grupo De Compañeros which is very impressive for a hill bunny. It's been a big few days of racing for the boys following the Oceania's in Bendigo and topped off with another great ride by the team today. Photos- Peter Monagle

21.01.2022 Great day for the team today at the Oceania championships road race with everyone doing their bit. Maccie coming out with 3rd and CJ 4th. The two were in a 10 man group with 40km to go 5 minutes behind lone leader James Frouche (NZL). They chased hard and finished roughly 2 minutes behind the kiwi storming home in conditions that gave the boys temperatures hitting 40 degrees and even some rain.

21.01.2022 CJ, Maccie & Jai flew the flag high for Total Rush at the U19 Road Nationals this weekend. The Time Trial was tough and rolling - like Kew Boulevard on steroids - but the lads smashed it finishing 3rd, 4th and 30th respectively from the large field. CJ recovered from a dropped chain on the final climb to hang on for a podium position just 21 seconds off the win. Maccie missed out on the podium by only 2.4 seconds, whilst Jai continues to improve in this very technical discipline finishing inside the top half of a quality field. Congrats to Harry Sweeny and Ben Mavrodis in first and second.

20.01.2022 The Total Rush cycling team competed in the 2017 Mansfield Tour over the weekend. The tour consisted of 3 stages over two days and the team - Maccie Carter, Nic Simpson and Liam Pino, were all motivated and ready to attack the race head on. Stage 1 TT, was a tough up and down course which saw the entire team put in a top effort to set them self up nicely for the remaining stages. Maccie was up there with the big guns placing 8th, heading into the afternoon's road stage. ...Stage 2 was an undulating 89km stage that was raced at a high intensity from the gun. The bunch was all back together with 20km to go which created an opportunity for Nic to be aggressive over the final climbs. Unfortunately, no moves eventuated but Maccie showed he was in fine form maintaining his GC position and heading over the final climb comfortably in the front group. Sundays queens stage was from Mansfield to the top of Mt Buller. Again the race was on from the gun as they headed towards the bottom of the climb. Nic was fantastic in support of Liam and Maccie, assisting them in maintaining an efficient bunch position and staying out of trouble. The entire climb was raced at a high intensity, which proved demoralising for any moves to proceed off the front. Maccie and Liam both showed their exciting climbing abilities, competing against some of the best riders in Victoria. The team now heads to the Mt Baw Baw classic - which poses as an exciting race given the young and enthusiastic climbing ability of the team!

20.01.2022 The Total Rush Development Team enjoyed another big weekend of racing with four of the boys competing in the VRS Tour of Mansfield and Alastair CJ remaining in Melbourne to compete in the final round of the Victorian Interschool Cycling Series. CJ won the final criterium of the VICS with a solo break to secure the series win (including 4 x 1st place, 1 x 2nd and 2 x 3rd). Meanwhile, in Mansfield, Ethan and Maccie took on a very strong A Grade field and finished with very resp...ectable GC results (17th and 26th) against some of the best NRS riders in the country. In B Grade, Jai took 3rd place in the TT and backed up with top 10 finishes in the two road stages to secure 5th on GC, just 2 minutes down on the winner. Liam also rode very strongly to finish 6th on GC in C Grade, only 4 mins down overall. A great weekend for the boys in pink!

19.01.2022 Tour of Mersey Valley There were beautiful sunny days before and after the 3 stage event however the race saw wind, rain and hail. Total Rush was well represented by Ethan, Maccie & Jai. Stage One was a fast 16.9km TT from Ulverstone to Penguin and back. Maccie smashed it in 7th at 51 secs with Jai in 23rd at 1:46 and Ethan in 27th at 2:04 to NZ's Rob Stannard. Stage 2 Gunns Plains to Riana was a gruelling event with treacherous wet conditions with crashes being a common occ...urrence. There was a quick break with 7 riders having attack and counter attack leaving the rest of the field to make their way through the hilly terrain Ethan & Maccie came 4th & 7th both at +57 secs and Jai in 42nd at 17:58, a very tough day. Stage 3 Sheffield 104.6 km made up of 3 laps in rain and hail with technical decents saw the boys excel in trying conditions. Ethan reached the hill top finish alongside Cam Scott (NSW) and James Fouche (NZ) and came in 3rd at just 8 secs. Maccie came in 6th at 4:02 and Jai in 20th at 8:24. The boys did extremely well in difficult conditions, great experience to call on down the track... See more

18.01.2022 Off to Doha for CJ and Maccie. First stop Perth and the joys of the WAIS heat chamber...

18.01.2022 About to start stage 2 of Mansfield

17.01.2022 Some more snaps of CJ and Jai at Sandown last night, courtesy of Jim Morey.

16.01.2022 Brendon Green's on a roll! He just added another win to his season with the Pop Stewart Handicap as well as the fastest time on the course yesterday. Big props!

15.01.2022 Hi all, get behind this young guy of ours on his road to the worlds!

15.01.2022 Two of our first year U19 boys Liam and Paddy took the first step to racing with the big boys at the C grade VRS Tour of East Gippsland on the weekend. The tour... started with a 8km time trial where Paddy posted a time of 10:49.60 earning him 4th place and Liam posting 11:16.25 earning him 9th spot after stage 1. Then it was on to stage 2 with a tough course with a few nasty pinches and some warm weather to spice things up a bit. Paddy managed to get himself in an early break with another rider so this meant that Liam just needed to sit in the pack and not do too much work. The break managed to stay away and Paddy snatched 2nd giving him the overall lead in the race. Liam unfortunately ran out of water (lesson learnt, take more water) on the hot stage and began cramping in the last few kilometres but still managed to grab 8th. Stage 3 was all about making sure that Paddy kept the leaders jersey so both Paddy and Liam made sure no breaks were going to get away. It was all together until the very last pinch into the finish when one rider jumped from the pack to take the win with Liam finishing 2nd and Paddy grabbing 3rd and winning the overall tour. Liam finished up in 7th place overall. Both great results for their introduction to racing at this level. Photo by Con Chronis photography.

14.01.2022 The Victorian Junior State Championships were held over the weekend in Wangaratta with Maccie finishing 2nd in the 18km ITT on Saturday, 11 seconds behind Tom Jones, and finishing a convincing 1st in a solo break in the Road Race on Sunday. In the road race the attacks started early with Maccie setting the pace on the first climb of the day with a group of 4 riders getting away early. A hard chase from the bunch saw them caught by the end of the first lap. The attacks conti...nued with Maccie and Tom Jones getting away again on the 4th lap but again a hard chase by 7 riders saw them caught before the beginning of the final lap. On the last ascent of Taminick Gap Maccie attacked early on the steep section and opened up a 40 sec gap bythe top of the climb. He extended his lead on the 11kms to the finish to win by over 2 mins from the 4 man chase group. See more

12.01.2022 The first year U19 boys raced in C Grade at the Tour Of South West today, the first stage was a 12.7k time trial. Liam came 3rd and Paddy came 6th. Then onto stage 2 which was a very windy and tough stage. Liam was trying to hide at the back out of the wind and missed a breakaway and also missed the chase group which saw him off the back in a small group by the end of the first lap. Paddy managed to get into the chase group. By the time the second lap came around Liam managed to bridge back to the main chase group, both him and Paddy worked hard with the chase group to try to catch the break but didn't manage to catch them. Paddy ended up finishing 8th and Liam Pino in 11th.

11.01.2022 With most of the team in Tassie for the Mersey Valley U19 Tour, Alastair CJ headed to Harcourt to fly the flag at the Castlemaine ITT. CJ took his first Open A Grade TT win, narrowly defeating Alex Morgan (VIS) by 1.8 secs and Jason Lea (Physio Health Focus) by 8.1 seconds.

10.01.2022 Liam and CJ lined up in the support race at Stage 2 of the Mitchelton Bay Cycling Classic along with Josh Abbey and special guest rider Shannon Johnson. Some nice shots from Pierre Pino tell the story far better than words. Suffice it to say that CJ and Liam did their bit to animate the race before SJ blew everyone away to win the stage and take a share of the series lead. Riley "Wiggo" Hart also put in a nice cameo for the VIS to help team mate Kell O'Brien on to the podium. Thanks to Jake and DK at Rush for making it all happen! See you at Portarlington tomorrow!

09.01.2022 It's old news now but CJ and Maccie have cracked the U19 National Team for the World Champs in Doha: http://www.cycling.org.au//six-riders-selected-to-australi If you'd like to help CJ get there:

09.01.2022 The Total Rush Development Team were well represented at Round 4 of the VICS Series - the Arthur's Seat TT - which coincided with the final stage of the Herald Sun Tour. Six of the boys raced in the Senior A division with all six boys placing in the top eleven riders, including 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th! Alastair C-J made it on to the podium and retained overall leadership of the series with Ethan and Maccie only seconds behind. The climb was about 100 m short of the famous Stra...va segment but with a time of 8:26 at 22.7 kph these boys are up there with the best! Hats off to Tom Jones who rode 8:07 for the win - good to know he was also on a Specialized! Super solid rides from Liam, Jai and Tommy. Looking forward to Oceanias.

09.01.2022 Maccie and CJ looking good in the Aussie kit at a local race in Perth, along with team mate Harry Sweeny.

05.01.2022 Rush was well represented at Sandown Crits tonight with Liam and CJ lining up in B Grade along with Nick Abels and Josh Abbey. Jai represented in C Grade. CJ made a number of early moves in B Grade before bridging across to the decisive break. He won with a strong solo off the front in the final lap, backing up a 4th in A Grade at Kew on Wednesday, also in the break. In C Grade Jai made the right call to go in the winning two up move but was rolled in the sprint to finish an excellent 2nd.

04.01.2022 CJ braved the rain and wind at the Northern Combine ITT Champs this morning and snatched a narrow win in Elite Men from Cyrus Monk (Pat's Veg) and Conor Murtagh (State of Matter). Chapeau to Mat Ross (Pat's Veg) who bettered CJ's time by 23 seconds but was ineligible for the win being from outside the Combine.

04.01.2022 Wow, what a busy couple of weeks for the Total Rush Juniors! On the weekend of April 2 & 3 Maccie, Ethan, Jai and Liam headed off to Bright with the team to contest the Junior Mountain Climb National Champs. In the U19 TT Maccie was unlucky to miss the podium finishing in 4th place and just 15 seconds from the medals. Ethan and Jai finished 13th and 31st respectively. On the Sunday, Ethan showed his true potential by claiming the U19 Road Race Championship in a tight finish. ...Maccie finished 6th within the same very select group with Jai crossing the line in a very respectable 26th place. Unfortunately Liam was sick and wisely decided not to contest the road race. Yesterday, the team ventured to Warragul for the Baw Baw Classic, one of the toughest one day races in Australia. CJ and Ethan joined DK and Brad in the Open A Grade field taking on a strong field of domestic and international riders representing teams such as Avanti Isowhey and Kenyan Riders Downunder. A strong break escaped with riders from several of the top teams represented and the break ultimately delivered the top four place-getters in the race. Ethan and CJ worked hard and kept their cool near the head of the ever dwindling bunch and then climbed strongly to finish 10th and 12th overall, only a few minutes down on the riders from the break. Many well known riders were left grovelling up the 13% climb behind them. In B grade, Jai toiled hard to finish 12th in his first attempt at the iconic race and says he'll be back again next year for another sufferfest!

03.01.2022 Maccie raced the Preston Mountain Classic on Sunday, starting from Strath Creek in a very fresh 2 degrees. 65 starters fronted for the Mens Elite race with Maccie starting in the second last group 4 mins ahead of a scratch group dominated by NRS riders. The handicappers got it right with the groups slowly coming together during the race and the limit riders (25min) not being caught until the last kilometre. Liam White and Ben Mavrodis attacked the lead bunch 5km before the... final climb and with Pats Veg and VIS not chasing their own riders the pair opened up a lead of over a minute. Maccie attacked the remnants of the bunch with 1km to go and managed to shake off everyone other than Gus Lyons and Matt Ross. The trio got within 5 seconds of Ben at the finish with Maccie being out sprinted in the final 50m to finish a creditable 5th in a strong field of riders.

03.01.2022 A few shots of stage 3 of the Bay Crits Support Race. Alastair had a good ride finishing 15th in today's stage, he was in the main chase group until losing some ground on the climb, he almost got back to the group on the last lap. Liam is still getting used to the pace of the big boys he was riding well today until his front derailuer got stuck on the climb and he wasn't able to change into the small chaining, probably best to let the guys at Total Rush check over the bike next time and not dad. It's been a great learning experience for the boys, thanks to Jake Sutherland and Dave Kelly setting up the tent and looking after everyone.

02.01.2022 We'd love if you guys could join us
