25.01.2022 The blank canvas. It’s been a dream of mine for years to create a movement space in Hobart. A place for all people and all ages to come together and move, not because it’s a chore to ‘get fit’ but because moving is fun and getting stronger and more resilient through fun is so rewarding. And through this process we learn so much about ourselves. The blank canvas time of this space is now when all the infinite possibilities of what it might become still exist. And now that the seed is planted and what my vision of it springs to life, I know that what it will actually become will largely be guided by who walks through the doors, and who plays on these walls and I’m excited by that. 24.01.2022 We are having a small opening over the Holidays with a range of morning and evening classes and a whole bunch of open gym time for you to come in, move, stretch, train, play, use the equipment, acro, and work on any movement projects you have over Christmas and New Years. I’m also available for mobility assessments and personal flexibility and strength training and programming if you’d like to get yourself moving and kicking some goals over the Holiday period. All inclusiv...e classes and open gym at Totum over the holidays is just $22.5/week ($79 for Dec 21 - Jan 17). Just head to www.totummovement.com/classes for all the details on upcoming classes. 23.01.2022 Understand your joints current limitations and then put in the effort to make them work better for you. Doing the same old just won't cut it, unfortunately. Most of us would love our 'stuff' to work better so we can do whatever is we enjoy doing longer, stronger, better, or simply pain free. Maybe it's surfing, maybe it's climbing, maybe it's doing yoga or simply walking a bit easier. Chances are, you can make your joints work better. It just takes a little time. Sorry, ...no quick fixes here, but the fixes actually last and you get to keep them. 22.01.2022 Expand the workable space in your joints and strengthen the muscles that support them. Imagine a shoulder with a ping pong ball sized capsular workspace, it’s possibilities for movement are limited. Now imagine that shoulder with a softball sized or volleyball sized workspace. The possibilities for movement are much larger meaning movement is easier and the buffer before injury is much larger as well. Come to Mobility class and turn those ping pong balls to volleyballs
18.01.2022 Build a body that Moves how you want it to by creating joints that work well and are strong. Body adaptations are specific - you climb and you get better at climbing, do yoga and you get better at yoga, sit and you get better at sitting. No exercise or sport brings the joints through their full range of motion as joints were built to do, however. The foundation of all movements are joints that are strong and work as a joint is intended. Layering movement on top of poorly functioning joints leads to bodies that hurt. Come to Mobility Class and we restore each joint and build the strength to control it so the body works better as a whole for whatever you ask it to do.
17.01.2022 Tonight - Thursday! Get moving with @mrconorwild Movement - 5:30 pm Mobility & Flexibility - 7:00 pm ... In Movement class we explore fun, creative and interesting ways to move our bodies. Conor’s speciality is in soft acrobatics and floorwork. Come learn from the best. In Mobility & Flexibility we help you build flexibility using a range of techniques that just plain work when you spend some time with it regularly. We’re not contortionists and don’t think you need to be one either (unless you want to of course). Having a range of motion that lets you move freely wherever you want to move and with the strength to control it is what we are after. This is bamboo strength.

Trust the Process, because ...sometimes you can’t see the change, but it’s happening. If this is new to you, remember, the best time to start was 10 years ago and the second best time to start is today. This isn’t work or a chore, it’s an exploration of the one body you’ll ever have. 13.01.2022 Hips, shoulders, ankles, and wrists are meant to rotate well and under muscular control. If you improve your rotation, then motions that are more linear, like ...walking, running and jumping and doing sweet moves like handstands and the splits become stronger, more accessible and achievable without even training them specifically. If you train a rotational joint to rotate well and strong, then ANY activity that uses that joint will be done better, stronger and more safely, even the more linear motions. In class and private trainings we prioritise improving rotation first. That said, tonight will have a linear focus on hip extension and flexion, great for the hips, hamstrings, glutes. Come to class regularly and FEEL the difference in your body.

If you lack rotation or the strength to control i...t, then you don’t really have a shoulder or a hip, you have a bunch of other body parts doing their best to patch together a motion that resembles what a shoulder or a hip could do on its own.
