24.01.2022 Disability Support | Walking Today we supported our client to continue his goal of building up stamina by walking through a few of the many tracks at Willans Hill. I have to admit, I’m feeling very grateful and humble to be doing such a great job with such great people. I honestly feel like I learn more from my clients than what I assist. People are amazing. I love the stories that people have. I love their intelligence, their wisdom, their life experience. We support people with disabilities and mental health but they’re not extraordinary because they have a disability, but they’re extraordinary because... well... everyone is extraordinary! No one should be taken for granted in our communities and that especially includes people with a disability. for being You!
23.01.2022 When I was creating this company it has been a very important value for me to be a company that lives for higher purposes than profit and is a force in the community that positively impacts lives... not only through our services, but also through charity. A few weeks ago I met with this gentleman... Greg. Greg made a few comments on our Page which made me want to know more about him. He told me a bit more about his story and I wanted to do more for him. We organised to meet ...and have a coffee so that I could find out more... We set up a day and time but didn't come through as Greg was sick. So we set up another time, but then there was a mix up in the times and I missed it... LOL Finally we met and I got to know more about this gentleman who lives in locally here in Wagga. Greg lives on his own and has a physical disability from multiple operations on his knee. They were very painful for him and as a result was eligible for disability pension. In March 2005 Greg's 8 year old son died in a tragic accident while at an outing with his mum's family. In 2007 Greg's dad became ill with emphysema and he looked after him until he died in 2010. In the same year Greg's mum was diagnosed with bowel cancer. Greg then cared for his mum as she lost all bowel and liver function which involved washing bed linen regularly, bathing, hand feeding, etc. until she passed away in November 2015. This whole process was super hard for Greg and took a toll on his health physically and mentally. Greg mentioned to me that the funerals of his loved ones were the worst days of his life that he has ever endured. Greg told me that he regularly suffers with depression and anxiety and has to fight like hell to get back to normal (whatever normal is). Greg doesn't (and shouldn't) need to fight alone and Touch the Sky has committed to being a friend to Greg and will regularly provide support to Greg in the form of meeting up, getting a coffee, doing an activity and just check-in on how he is. No one in our community should feel alone and so Touch the Sky has a vision which includes doing charitable things for people in our community and creating ways in which people can be made aware of others in need and then do something for them. Besides us making Greg our friend, we have decided to sponsor him to go on a trip to Merimbula NSW for a few days in which he can just forget his troubles and have his spirit revived by the beautiful local surrounds and knowing that someone cares for him. Cheers to you Greg and Cheers to making a difference locally. One person at a time. P.S. If you get inspired from this post to do something for someone you know please share it with us so we can get inspired by the good will in people!
19.01.2022 Had an awesome time supporting Stephen to enjoy his love of fishing and kayaking. This time we went more upstream to a beautiful spot where there are golden perch, Murray cod and trout cod along with others... no luck of catching one today but I’m sure we’ll get one soon! If you or someone you care for with a disability would like to experience some engaging recreational activities just give me a call! 0421 011 372 @ Forest Hill, New South Wales, Australia
17.01.2022 Disability Support | Lifestyle Support These are pictures from the past couple of weeks of activities done with one of our clients: We went kayaking the first time. We kayaked about a kilometre upstream. Then we kayaked and found a couple of spots wedging our kayaks against some big logs in the river and then throwing in our lines for a fish We also went to Wiradjuri Golf Course and had a round through its mini golf course. We didn’t do too bad We also scouted ano...ther spot (the Shanty reserve) where there is good river access... although getting there is a bit rough without a 4WD! Great times with a great client! People with disability have so much to offer and can accomplish a lot with Support that’s willing to go all the way with them. Give a like if you agree or share how someone you know has achieved much despite their hurtles! See more

10.01.2022 Finally a catch! Ok... it wasn’t exactly what we were looking for... but it was something. A crayfish. Well done to Stephen a client of Touch the Sky to get this monster. It was not bad a size, maybe around 1 kg. Have a great day everyone!
10.01.2022 Disability Support | Fun and Creative This past week we assisted one of our clients to have some fun at Bowling in Wagga and also had an awesome session learning to play guitar. We’ve been trying to do this for months and this week we actually got there Boo Yeah!
09.01.2022 Disability Support | Recreational Activities The last few sessions have been great with clients! We’ve been to Talbingo to look at the Snowy Hydro plant and grab some hot chips for lunch. We had a quick fish but enjoyed making a fire by the river Today we provided services to a new client that we are excited about and went for a walk along one of the many tracks on Willans Hill. We enjoyed spotting some native birds and got a nice shot of the Kookaburra!
09.01.2022 Disability Support | Developing Skills Our Support Worker Nadine was with Brodie supporting him to develop his domestic skills. They had a great session buying the ingredients from the shops, cooking an amazing stir-fry, and then cleaning up together. We work with our clients, not only providing recreational activities, but also assisting them to develop and maintain life skills that enhance their lives and allow them to live with as much independence as possible. Go you Brodie!

08.01.2022 Disability Support | Hiking Last week we supported another client to hike up the Rock. We did the short track which is still a workout considering that we hiked 200m in elevation within about a kilometre of distance. The heart definitely begins to pump at certain spots! We got back just in time before the rain came Loved every bit of it! @ The Rock Summit, The Rock, The Rock
07.01.2022 Disability Support | Scenic Walk We supported one of our clients to go to Galore Hill scenic reserve where we experienced the beautiful flora and fauna there, the amazing view on top of the viewing platform! and then the great walk called Morgan’s walk where we saw multiple cool caves on the side of the hill. To top the trip off, we saw the ferocious bearded dragon all puffed up to scare us away! Great adventure!
07.01.2022 This is another video from our "spatial awareness therapy"
05.01.2022 Disability Support | Hiking We supported our client to go for a hike at the Rock Nature Reserve. It took us the full 3 hours but we did stop a few times and soaked in the view at the summit... it was tough but we did it! We almost touched the Sky physically and that’s what we’re doing metaphorically for our clients. We support them to reach their goals, do fun and engaging activities and we take absolute pleasure seeing them Touch the Sky! @ The Rock Summit, The Rock, The Rock
05.01.2022 Disability Support | Fishing We have been supporting our client with many fishing trips and today our Support Worker Tianna Grounds caught an awesome fish !!! It was the size of her arm! Tianna is our newest member at Touch the Sky Support and has skills and experience that connect with our clients in a positive way and help them reach their potential. If you’re interested in having her support your loved one, get in contact with us! What a great support session leading into the weekend!
05.01.2022 Disability Support | Spatial Awareness Therapy One of our clients invested in a scaled remote control car It's a Subaru Brumby and built to drive on rugged terrain as you can see.... Oh... and did I mention that it's awesome! Not only does it fill our clients fun tank (and the Support Workers ) but it's actually a really fun and cool way of exercising his spatial awareness and concentration. He has to judge how close or far the car is, mixed in with speed variations and hand-eye coordination. I just thought it's an amazing and great way to do "therapy". I think it was my therapy too! Lol
05.01.2022 Disability Support | Baseball We purchased a tee and a baseball bat and supported our client to have a go at playing some tee ball and practicing hitting the ball. Great activity to get outdoors and learning hand-eye coordination! They really enjoyed it. In the second picture you’ll notice the tee got the belting rather than the ball it was a great activity!
04.01.2022 Disability Support | Cooking We supported our client to get in touch with their cooking skills. They did a great job! @ Tumut, New South Wales
