20.01.2022 Sunrise at the Touchwood house

20.01.2022 One method we use to access large trees via srt. Rope wrench with a VT friction hitch & a hitch climber pulley to assist the cordage. These combined with the Yale prism 11.7 rope makes for some silky smooth climbing.

19.01.2022 Big old silky oak removal for Brendan’s first day back after a month off. Making a dirty mess for Haydon and Jake. We may cut a few slabs out of the trunk of this one for future projects. #reuseandrecycle It’s great to be back in the swing of things with the Touchwood team.

17.01.2022 Not much room down there.....but that’s ok, we can play the hand we are dealt.

15.01.2022 Some new rigging rope rolling into town.

14.01.2022 The Touchwood beach house in full swing on this fine Saturday

13.01.2022 Like Haydon......we are having a lay day today to have some repairs done on the chip truck. Rest assured we will be back in the swing for Monday next week!

13.01.2022 Young gun Haydo setting up the porta-wrap on a small removal. This is a friction device used by the ropes man once the climber has rigged a branch or log. When the section is cut, no matter the size it can be lower to the ground with controlled safety and ease.

11.01.2022 Today we installed some fresh Christmas lights in a large Norfolk Island pine on national park st Hamilton. Something different...... Go have a squiz.

09.01.2022 Huge effort by the team today removing 2 large silky oaks, one of which was massive for what it was. Span rigging, tip ties & huge sections lifted & lowered out to make fairly light work of a solid tree. Well done lads!

07.01.2022 We all share Haydon’s enthusiasm for kicking off things with a bang for 2021. As of tomorrow we are coming for the new year & new beginnings here at Touchwood! We hope everyone had a happy & safe holiday.

07.01.2022 Although the trees weren’t big today, the mushrooms were. Haydon with a rare find on site.

Merry Christmas from Amii, Brendan and Haydo, The Touchwood Team. We look forward to getting stuck back into it in the new year (we'll be back from the 4th January)

03.01.2022 This breaks our heart to see posts like this. This poor family who are now dealing with this mess and the cost to fix it, because of a cowboy who doesn't have a clue what he's doing nor the insurances to cover him. If you are having any tree work done, Please make sure your arborist is qualified, experienced and most importantly, has up to date insurances that actually covers the work they are doing. Your arborist should have $20 million public liability insurance. Here's a... few tips to help prevent this halving to you * Ask to view their insurance certificates, don't be embarrassed to ask them to see it. All reputable companies will gladly produce it when asked, we personally send you a copy of of our insurance before we even turn up to give you a quote. * Do they sound knowledgable when they do your quote? Can they identify the tree species? Can they talk you through how they will take the tree down? * Do they have a website or social media pages that you can have a look at? * Do they have reviews on Google, or their Facebook page? * Ask around for personal recommendations * Check their ABN. Actually check that it's valid, you can do an ABN search to make sure that it is valid. Also when you do the ABN search, look at the current AND historical details, are they who they say they are? How many business names have they been known as? A business that is constantly changing names is a big red flag. To check an ABN, you can Google abn lookup or use the following link. You search by their ABN, ACN (Australian company number), or Business name. https://abr.business.gov.au/ If you aren't quite sure, get a second opinion. We hope that by some miracle that this bloke takes responsibility and this family have their home fixed.

01.01.2022 We are hiring Are you a team player? Consider yourself a leader? Are you passionate about the tree industry and also client relationships? Do you want to be part of a professional, fun, award winning team with a great culture? We are currently looking for an experienced arborist to join our growing company. MR licence and proven experience an absolute must. Do you have what it takes to compliment our team? Open to contractors as well.... Contact Amii via email or phone . 01.01.2022 One of today’s 3 fells. Huge back lean pulling with the 6:1 hauling device maxed out. Lucky we didn’t rip this thing in half with the amount of pressure we had on it. Severe termite damage with a big mud guts.
