11.01.2022 2nd week of our kids art class. This week we looked at the difference in using soft pastels and oil pastels and the ease of blending them. Once more starting off with just red, yellow and blue, the kids are learning how to create their own colours and shades. Interesting to watch what they come up with on their paper, some budding artists indeed.

11.01.2022 Hi Everyone. We are trying to keep the continuity of exhibitions at Shorethyme through this trying time. Covid has been such an issue and continues to be a brak...e on the artistic endeavours of many creative people. To continue to encourage and promote our local and metropolitan artists we are about to launch our 6th. Open Art Show at Shorethyme. We hope you can be a part of this Show. To date, we have about 5 spots available to guarantee a great show and would encourage anyone interested to apply. All you need is one or two works ready to hang. Everything is free and all you have to do is contact us to register your interest. We look forward to hearing from interested parties. Best wishes and a Happy New Year to all. Chris Downes Shorethyme Restaurant. See more

Everyone must sign in at the entrance, we have the QR code for scanning, help with this is on hand if you need it. 09.01.2022 Another full day workshop held at the gallery today. Some fancy cards, marbled paper and cute little origami boxes made.

08.01.2022 Another great afternoon with our budding young artists. Today we worked on canvas creating an underwater scene, the kids enjoyed painting and wetting it down on the canvas, then tilting to run the paint down. After drying them off and having a snack, they were ready to go again. When given the choice of more paint or using pastels they all enthusiastically chose pastels. Enjoy the result of a little guidance and a lot of artistic freedom. Many thanks to Sue Candy and Lesley Baxter who stepped in at the last minute to lend a hand, it was very much appreciated.

04.01.2022 So, we gave the kids a canvas, some sponges, straws, bubble wrap and an odd assortment of bits to experiment with. The aim was to have fun and to not get caught up in the finer details, if you don’t like it, paint over it and they did. Unfortunately I didn’t get pics of everyone’s work today, we just got too busy.

02.01.2022 It was 40degrees outside on Saturday afternoon, but the kids inside were amazed at what they could achieve with a couple of colours and a straw. We get so involved in the class that I often forget to take photos, so here are a couple that I managed to get.
