23.01.2022 Great news for Noosa country communities and the ever-growing number of travellers who love hiking - a proposal to improve the trail between Pomona and Cooran, as outlined in the Noosa Trail Masterplan, has received $1.61m funding through a successful grant application to the Queensland Government from Tourism Noosa, Noosa Council, Noosa Biosphere Reserve Foundation and Noosa and District Landcare. This is a major boost for plans to improve the Noosa Trail Network to provide ...greater experiences for visitors and bring economic benefit to hinterland areas. The project will create a loop around the base of Mt Cooroora and improve the Pomona to Cooran section of the trails, turning Pomona into a trail hub for locals and visitors. The grant came through the Queensland Government’s $36.8 million Local Economic Recovery program, jointly funded by the Commonwealth and Queensland Governments under the Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements, benefitting areas heavily impacted by last year’s bushfires. Here’s how the event remained plastic-free: Requested participants to bring their own reusable water bottles; the event provided the NOOSA collection aluminium bottled water to all participants on day 1; requested all participants to bring their own keep cups; all utensils not brought by participants were Biopak compostables; all venues requested to be plastic-free, using Biopak products.
