24.01.2022 Lets look at the negatives that have been posted regarding the T plate. 1. Being identified as a tourist is an opportunity to be robbed. Unfortunately if you are towing a caravan or are in a campervan etc you will automatically be recognised as a tourist. This in itself is an indication of what you are doing and can have the same affect as a T plate to let others know you are not from the area. There are always people that will take advantage of particular situations, but we ...feel that most people travelling to foreign destinations are also more aware of their own personal safety as the unknown could always happen. In France you drive with a different coloured number plate, this is the same sort of thing and any good crim will look for these signs if they truly want to rob you. Lets face the facts that at any given time you could be robbed for any particular reason, how many news reports have you seen lately about people being robbed and assulted in their own home compared to tourists being robbed. Our recommendation is that T plates be removed when vehicle is unattended. 2. The T plate will not stop head on collisions This is one instance where the T plate may not be helpful as it is very hard to account for on coming traffic. However there are plenty of instances where this T plate can give road users the ability to leave more space between the car in front and your own. This can increase split second decisions to give you maybe 4 or 5 seconds to react, which in a life threatening situation can be a very long time and make the difference between life or death. This initiative is designed to be a visual aid in helping identify people who maybe unfamiliar with the area and who may make mistakes but are unaware how critical these mistakes can be to other road users. 3. The T plate won't make a difference to bad drivers behind the wheel. If we can save one life or minimise injuries sustained in accidents then this idea is well worth it. We are not just campaigning for the T plate but also to conicide with the T plate, a driving test which specifically targets Australian roads and the difficulty when travelling on them. We have unsealed roads and even our sealed roads are not as good as in European Countries and this can catch unsuspecting drivers. We may not be able to curb bad driving but we can make others aware that bad driving is something we will have to contend with and a little bit of advanaced warning maybe all that's needed to prevent a serious accident.

19.01.2022 Our T Plate is hopefully the start of something bigger. We would like to campaign for drivers to be tested in relation to Australian Road Rules and the point of difference being (driving on the left) be a significant part of this training or testing. We believe the T plate needs to conicide with a testing situation that not only tests and ensures the driver is confident but the T plate can let other road users know they are a tourist. This will help to educate both the touris...t driver and other road users to be aware and maybe give the person in front more room and to expect anything. It is the same a L and P plates if communicated correctly you will have a clear understanding of what the T plate represents. Unfortunately we have a real problem in Australia and New Zealand with this issue and whilst this is not a solution to all accidents we are hoping it can help be a small part in keeping people safer on our roads.
