24.01.2022 Walk in the footsteps of Charles Darwin. Darwin originally visited Hobart in 1836 and was one of the first geologists to visit Hobart. He made many clever observations of the rocks of the town. Hobart lies on the western margin of the Lower Derwent Graben and the landscape has been strongly influenced by the faulting associated with this major structural zone. 22.01.2022 Spent a wonderful day out with Leona and Alison, from England and Scotland respectively, who are totally deaf and almost blind, at Tahune Airwalk, together with volunteer sign language interpreter Ray Hilsdon. Our thanks to Joyce Clifford from Tasdeaf for arranging this. There was a fair amount of difficulty in understanding each other, as Australian sign language differs from both English and Scottish sign language. These two very adventurous young ladies have travelled the world, on their own, in spite of their severe disabilities, and taken part in all sorts of asdventurous activities such as scuba diving, mountaineering, parachuting, etc. so it was pure joy to watch their excitement as they experienced a ride on the Eagle Hang Glider at Tahune.

22.01.2022 Find out what ‘lies beneath’ in this captivating geology tour of Hobart. This is no ordinary tour. Dr Tony Webster is a geoscientist who explores the underlying geology of Australia’s inner cities and how this influenced settlement and development patterns. Central Hobart is remarkable in that traces of the original landscape are still evident despite 218 years of European settlement. Join Tony on a walk around the original coastline of Sullivan’s Cove as he discusses the layout of the first camp and how the geology and landscapes of the original shoreline influenced the settlement. https://toursaroundtasmania.com.au/tour/hobart-geology-tour/

15.01.2022 Take a walk on the dark side as we explore Tasmania’s fascinating colonial history. This is no ordinary walking tour. You’ll be transported back in time to the days of early settlement where whalers drank, convicts fought and shady characters found refuge in the pubs along the winding streets of Battery Point. 11.01.2022 Listen to the tales of hardship and woe as you wander through the historic grand sandstone warehouses of Salamanca Place. Marvel at the beautiful colonial architecture of the 1800’s in the quaint village of Battery Point, overlooking the River Derwent. On this walk we explore the remains of early settlement and the role of convict men and women during this time. Be transported back in time with stories of shady characters and the hardships of convict men and women as you walk through beautiful architectural treasures.

04.01.2022 Karen and Jenny, standing out of the wind, in the visitor's centre at the pinnacle of Mount Wellington, on the first part of their day out to Tahune AirWalk. Weather was perfect!
