25.01.2022 A monumental day here at Townes Contracting as we farewell a piece of our heritage, This 1982 Kenworth SAR was purchased around 1995 to pull our low loader and is now being sold, we are sure many local operators have a story to go with this truck over the past 25 years. Since then it has had a lot of different tasks from the low loader, semi tipper, general and fridge van work to finally being run as a 48 tonne truck and dog earning it’s crust with the much newer trucks for ...the past 10 years we’re sure it has paid itself off a few times by now! Although if you asked Michael Townes it probably has one last payment to go! It’s a testament to the Kenworth product as it has had its overhauls but we’re not confident many of the new trucks will be around to do what this truck can 38 years on. It goes to auction next week and hopefully on to a new owner that will keep it rolling for another 20 years! See more
