The Town Hall has been closed since March and we miss bringing the Art Gallery to life. ‘The Colour of Absence’ exhibition was originally planned to appear in the Art Gallery and due to the closure has been moved online. It's an inspiring art exhibition that represents resilience, determination and optimism by the Syrian-Australian artist Miream Salameh. Miream was forced to leave Syria in 2012 after the Syrian Re...volution broke out. As both a revolutionary and visual artist, she was the target of threats and most of her artwork was destroyed. Congratulations to Diana and her partner who have won the Peter Rowland Valentines Day picnic Hamper. We loved your story... 'My partner called me to see if i was home one night so he could come over and help me revise for my exam the following day. I said i was and that he was able to come over. After some time the door bell rang ...and i opened it knowing that he was here however as i opened the door, I couldn't see him anywhere. I stepped outside to see if he was there and to my surprise he came out of nowhere dancing towards me wearing the Hogster's head costume. We both worked at Hogs Breath Cafe and the mascot of the restaurant was a pink Hog called Hogster. We met each other and fell in love at work hence why he borrowed the costume. As he danced towards me, i was so surprised and laughing so much as i did not expect this. He took the costume head of, got the engagement ring out and proposed to me. It was the most happiest and unexpected night of my life that I will never forget.' See more
