12.01.2022 The Boroondara Arts Encouragement Award is awarded annually to an exhibitor at the Camberwell Art Show and recognises excellence in contemporary visual art. This year, the 55th Camberwell Art Show is a series of monthly online art galleries from August to November, each featuring a different theme. The November theme is ‘best of Boroondara’. All artists that live or have a studio in Boroondara are invited to enter. Submissions close Tuesday 27 October. The winner of the awa...rd will be offered an exhibition of works in the foyer of Hawthorn Arts Centre. 07.01.2022 Our latest Community Exhibitions employ humour and the bizarre to reveal the comedic in our everyday. 'Creepy Crawlies' showcases paintings by well-established local artist Ian Napier, who studied under John Brack and Jenny Watson and who counts the likes of Rick Amor and Andrew Southall as his contemporaries. Napier’s works can be found in prestigious collections around Australia. 'Coffee Zombie' by Suhasini Seelin - Actor is a series of short films about a character who can...’t function without their morning coffee. As both actor and producer of the films, Seelin playfully examines the challenges we face in our daily routines. These concurrent exhibitions employ humour and the bizarre to reveal the comedic in our everyday. 06.01.2022 We are open late this Friday evening. Come join us on 11.12.20 for the official start of the festive season. The gallery will be open after dark - a great chance to see the current exhibitions before we close for the season. 'A Family Album' and 'Creepy Crawlies and Coffee Zombie' will be open on the night until 8:30pm. The square outside the gallery at Hawthorn Arts Centre has been decorated magnificently. The official tree lighting will take place at approximately 8:10pm.... Live music starts at 5:30pm in the square, and the first 150 attendees can pick up a complimentary gift bag!
