25.01.2022 Our hearts are exploding! Mr Fluffers (actually a female!) was attacked by a dog and was brought into the clinic by the person that found her. We treated her straight away as her condition was unstable, and we tried to get in contact with her owners via the microchip details. ... X-rays revealed multiple ribs fractures and a displaced sternum, but she is recovering well and is nice and comfortable on her strong pain killers. She has been reunited with her loving family. She said thanks to us by giving Kim big smooches and head bumps. These small moments mean so much to us.

25.01.2022 There’s no reason why a ferret can’t have a positive experience at the veterinary clinic! This little guy snacked on a yummy meaty paste that was placed inside a Kong toy.

24.01.2022 Happy third birthday to us! We opened our doors on the 1st of December 2017, hoping to make a difference and become the friendly local clinic that goes the extra mile. We have grown from a team of 5 to a team of 14 since then. We are really lucky to have such an excellent team who all strive to do their best for the patients at all times. ... We have met so many magnificent animals and lovely people over the past three years. Many of our clients and patients are now part of the furniture! We wish to thank our staff, clients, and of course the animals, from the bottom of our hearts for an amazingly wild and wonderful three years. - Shelley & Kim, owners of TVC.

24.01.2022 Cindy is recovering well from her knee reconstruction surgery (TTA) performed by Dr. Peter Young. She has regular rehabilitation sessions with Nurse Kim. What lovely weather for today’s session! So lucky to have a nice big oval right across from the clinic.

23.01.2022 Happy birthday to Dr Jenna’s girl Piper! Photo taken by Jenna.

23.01.2022 Dr Jenna having cuddles with Basil. Basil has diabetes which is being managed by Jenna. He receives insulin injections at home twice a day. He’s doing very well and we enjoy his visits - he’s a real character.

23.01.2022 Piaf Super chilled out guy. Took his worming tablet and vaccination like a champ. We create a low stress environment for our feline friends, away from dogs, upstairs in our cat hospital (with gold accreditation from the International Society of Feline Medicine ).

22.01.2022 It was a busy end to the week with specialist surgeon Dr Adrian Wallace and his nurse Cassie visiting the clinic to perform advanced surgeries. We were thrilled to have them back after being unable to cross the border since the closure. Regular patients still came through our doors of course, and it was all hands on deck to care for and cuddle them all!

21.01.2022 Happy dancing for crazy sock week! All in the name of raising money for Bali Animal Welfare Association. Thanks to our wonderful clients who have embraced this fundraiser so far! Still a couple of days to go!

20.01.2022 Archie having cuddles with Rach during a routine vaccination appointment. Puppy cuddles refuel us after treating trauma patients or very sick patients, and after breaking bad news to pet families. As they say, you can’t pour from an empty cup - and there’s no better way to fill up our cups than a cuddle with a puppy.

20.01.2022 Calliope. One happy little pup! A regular visitor to the clinic after sustaining a severe eye injury. She’s healed beautifully.

19.01.2022 Winnie. Winnie is an ‘Irish Red and White Setter’ puppy - we don’t see many of these guys, quite an unusual breed. What a sweet girl.

19.01.2022 Listen to baby Luna’s heart! Luna is a 6 month old Bearded Dragon who came in this week for a health check. Listening to reptiles’ hearts is best achieved with a Doppler machine rather than a stethoscope. She passed her health check with flying colours!

18.01.2022 Happy birthday Dr Bron! We can’t thank you enough for how thorough you are with the patients and for how much care you put into everything you do. Have a wonderful day. : Miss Naked Cakes... : The Flower Girl : MAMA - Murray Art Museum Albury See more

18.01.2022 Kim is currently completing a Graduate Diploma of Veterinary Acupuncture through the College of Integrative Veterinary Therapies. Sampson is a very willing participant for Kim to refine her techniques. He doesn’t stay awake for long during his treatments. The endorphins released make him very sleepy!

17.01.2022 Dr Shelley and her regular patient Diesel. Diesel the little geriatric man had his eye removed due to severe and painful glaucoma a couple of years ago, and was back in this week to have a nasty lump removed. He always makes us laugh as he is the most wiggly little guy. Shelley calls him a mini giraffe as he has a way of moving his neck around all over the place. A frog in a sock would be another way to describe him!

17.01.2022 Marmalade had a consultation with Dr Bron today as she was feeling a bit under the feather #chooksofinstagram #chickenvetcare #peekaboo

15.01.2022 Dr Jenna turned her back for a second to print some handouts and Spud said HEY! Kelpie pups fire on all cylinders at all times!

15.01.2022 Lots to celebrate this week with two members of our team finishing their studies! Darcy has competed her Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing, and Shelley has finished her Graduate Certificate in Small Animal Ultrasound. ... Gorgeous flowers from the other team members were much appreciated.

14.01.2022 Kiara. Tortoiseshell cats are special! They are almost always female; only 1 in 3000 tortoiseshell cats is male.... In the folklore of many cultures, tortoiseshell cats are believed to bring good luck. They can be spirited, and sometimes get referred to as naughty torties - but we think they just like to keep things interesting!

14.01.2022 Winnie likes to use Bentley as a pillow, more so now that Winnie has a sore neck and finds comfort in this position. That’s what friends are for.

14.01.2022 Luna. Big smiles from a happy rescue girl who has landed on her feet with her adoptive family.

14.01.2022 Happy birthday to #bosslady Dr Shell! Shelley loves celebrating anything and everything and the staff know that her birthday celebrations go for a lot longer than just a day! Why not just keep the party going till Christmas?

14.01.2022 Masks are boring... Show us your socks! Crazy sock week starts this Monday. Let’s do this!

09.01.2022 Lady enjoying the spring sunshine during her hospital stay.

08.01.2022 Well done Dr Jenna!

07.01.2022 Ellie popped in to help us with phone calls and admin tasks this week as we have been very busy! Lenny was her assistant for the day. He didn’t do much to help but we didn’t mind.

07.01.2022 We are closed on Monday for the NSW public holiday. River Country AEC will be open. Happy long weekend to all!

06.01.2022 Ajax (who we posted about previously after he sustained major trauma and had his fractured leg repaired) has been boarding with us for strict rest and daily rehab. He is frightened of thunderstorms and refused to eat one night... Until Kim’s daughters gave him the reassurance he needed. The girls came in before bedtime to sit with him for awhile and in no time he was happy to eat his dinner. (Gold stars to the girls for their excellent hand hygiene too - they love wearing gloves when they come to the clinic! ).

06.01.2022 SHOW US YOUR FEET TO FEED DOGS ON THE STREET! CRAZY SOCK WEEK to raise money for starving Balinese street dogs. Townsend Veterinary Clinic will donate money to Bali Animal Welfare Association to feed starving Balinese street dogs when you show us your ‘crazy’ socks between Monday September 28th and Friday the 3rd of October. Simply wear ‘crazy’ socks when you visit the clinic and we will donate $5 to this amazing cause. Staff will be jumping on-board as well, wearing... wacky socks for the entire week! Why are we doing this? From Bali Animal Welfare Association: "The COVID-19 crisis continues in Bali. There is no relief in sight. In fact, it is only getting worse. With no tourists in Bali, many locals are out of work. They can barely afford to feed their families, and for most, feeding their animals is not possible. Litters of puppies and sick and starving dogs are considered a burden and are being discarded. Expats and tourists who used to regularly feed the roaming beach and street dogs have had to return to their home country, and now the dogs have no one. Competition for food is higher, which means dogs must search further for it. This leads to more fights between dogs, more disease transmission, leading ultimately to more hungry, sick and injured dogs for BAWA to feed and treat. We are keeping thousands of dogs alive with food and medicine deliveries, reaching villages throughout Bali seven days a week. But it is only with YOUR donations that we can buy the food to keep these dogs alive. It was really hard before, but it is impossible now unless you can help us help them. Please donate to stop them from starving." If you’d prefer to keep your feet to yourself, you can donate directly via this link (scroll down to the Australia section, and add the note ‘food’ to your transfer): https://bawabali.com/donate-to-bawa/ Looking forward to seeing you and your socks (because masks are boring) from Monday the 28th! From the team at Townsend.

06.01.2022 Sophie. What a sweet little foxy face.

06.01.2022 Today we celebrated being able to cross freely from VIC to NSW after 138 days of having to go through the checkpoint. Thanks to our Victorian staff and clients for your extreme patience since July. Our clinic is located 600m from the checkpoint, and we appreciate the effort our Victorian clients have made to stick with us. The Albury/Wodonga region can’t seem to catch a break though...No power! We are running on emergency back-up lighting this afternoon! Phones are still ...working. Gladys - is this a joke?!

05.01.2022 Christmas is just around the corner which means... Micheal Bublé is about to emerge from his cave... Tom has dusted off his Christmas shirt...... And, most importantly- It’s time to get your pets preventative health sorted and make sure you have enough of your pets regular medications to get through the holiday period. Give us a bell: (02) 6046 9846.

05.01.2022 Some of our recent puppy preschool attendees! Setting a puppy up for success takes time, consistency, clear communication, and a whole lot of patience! Getting on top of your pups’ socialisation and training from the very start is crucial. Having fun is important too!

04.01.2022 Three lovely chooks in to see Dr Bron and Nurse Rach today. Chickens make fantastic pets!

03.01.2022 Jag was in a spot of bother this week when he was unable to pass urine. Investigation revealed that the cause was a stone that had lodged in his urethra (ouch!). The stone was able to be dislodged by Dr Shelley and he felt lots of relief afterwards - the best pee of his life was had!

02.01.2022 Crazy Sock Week to Raise Money for Balinese Street Dogs! Show us your crazy socks this week when visiting the clinic and Townsend Veterinary Clinic will donate $5 to the Bali Animal Welfare Association. The health of Bali street dogs largely depends on the generosity of tourists, and travel has not been possible due to COVID. These dogs really need our help!... : Our staff showing off their crazy socks today!

01.01.2022 Sunny Sparkles Such a happy, relaxed girl with a lot of love to give. Tail is going full-steam in this photo (you can just see it, blurred out).

01.01.2022 Happy two years at Townsend to our amazing Sarah! Sarah is a fully qualified and registered Veterinary Nurse with many years of experience. She has a love for learning and is currently completing a Diploma of Veterinary Nursing in General Practice. She is a Fear Free Certified Professional as well as an ISFM Cat Friendly Veterinary Professional, meaning that she has undertaken further study in order to really understand animal behaviour and learn how to handle animals in the most respectful way possible. Thanks for all your care and dedication, and for all the laughs too! We are lucky to have you on our team.
